MyISP R60 for 3GB

Thanx guys for the help and opinions and what what LOL. I am waiting for uncapped to become cheap and stable and stable oh and did i mention STABLE then I will be all smiles! But until then I'm always checking the bandwidth meter :(

MyISP works 100%, I've used thier free account for the past 8 months at least and I've never had any problems with it. If their free accounts are fine then I'm sure their 3GB ones are also ;)

Besides their accounts run on IS...

Did someone say TRANCE? Where is the trance? I need more trance!!

Tariq - what line speed do you have? If you're on 384k you might be interested in getting the 384K all-in-one uncapped account from SAOL. If you're on 512K, it's worth it downgrade to 384k, and get this uncapped deal. Forget DigiChilli and Screamer, go with SAOL.

I've heard lots of good things about SAOL, and this package in particular.

I was on 512K line with 10GB afrihost, costing me a total of R616 (excluding voice line rental). I downgraded to 384K, and signed up yesterday with SAOL at about 5pm, and was activated today at noon. Currently downloading torrents at 40KB/s, uploading at 8KB/s. The difference in speed between 384K and 512K doesn't justify the difference in price (512K is 2.1 times the price for 1.33 times the speed of 384K). My total cost now is R499 (excluding voice line rental) for uncapped. Compare this to R616 for 10GB. I will probably use about 30-40GB on my account, but should theoretically be able to get about 100GB or more if I max out my line 24x7. That's just counting downloads. Uploads should add another 20GB or so to the limit.

The best thing is not having to worry, or count the MB as they pass. Just download as and when you want. No worries.

Read more about it on this myBB thread (jump to about the last 10 pages) and on the SAOL website.

Are you sure? As far as I know, there are no contracts with TelkomCloser itself. The way I understand it, they only tie you into a contract with your ADSL Line rental if you take a free modem.

Did you take the free modem?

And what package are you one?

You can phone Telkom on 10219 and ask them for all the details. They are quite helpful. You might have to get your mom to speak though, or if the line is in your dad's name, just pretend to be him. You'll need his ID number though. Alternatively, just get either your mom or dad to call...

My mom absolutely loves the free minutes and free off peak calls that the TelkomCLOSER plan offers her, will we be able to keep that while moving to SAOL? And even if we can, the price would become to much to pay for two phone related bills. Btw, moms a single parent.

Telkom Closer has nothing to do with ADSL, unless you've got one of the DoBroadband Closer packages. But even so, you can cancel the "Do" part and just opt for the "Closer" part. Then migrate your line to SAOL. Remember you are only migrating the ADSL line to SAOL, and not the actual physical line or voice service. Also, the migration is just an administrative process. It won't affect your voice service at all.

I've got the Telkom Closer Plan 2 at home, which has no inclusive minutes, but gives you free off-peak calls up to an hour per call. My ADSL line is with SAOL (or will be very soon, the migration process has begun). I pay Telkom for voice line rental + Closer Plan 2, and SAOL for ADSL line rental + bandwidth (384k uncapped).

Kapish?

Say what...this is beginning to sound promising.
So this "migration" that you speak of, what does this do? Will I be left without internet while they migrate me?

edit: yes we got that Do Closer plan thingy

If you migrating from Telkom to SAOL, no you won't be left without internet. Like I said it's an administrative process, not a technical one.

BTW, forgot to add, yes we did take the free router option

If you took the free router, then you most probably signed up for a 24 month contract on the ADSL line rental. Which means you can't migrate your line until the 24 month period is over. Phone 10219 and find out. You can cancel your TelkomInternet ISP bandwidth account, and use a different ISP altogether. All you pay Telkom for is your ADSL line rental.

Ill be posting back shortly since my dad is gonna do an EFT

For those jumping to the last thread of the post,
theres been only one guy that said it worked.
