Hi There...

Anyone know how to get MySQL functioning on Windows Vista..???

I am using Dreamweaver to create PHP websites, and use MySQL databases for them. Now, when I try to connect to a DB in Dreamweaver, it wont allow me.

I can't even access the Client Command Prompt of MySQL as it just wont start...?

Any ideas where I can download a functional Windows Vista compatible MySQL package, or how can I make my MySQL work on Vista...

Any help would be appreciated...!

Thanx...

Just be sensible, install vmware and then CentOS or another linux server distro as a VM. You'll get better performance, a system which is coherent to start, and support for everything which you might want to deploy later.

http://www.vmware.com/download/server/ <- free license for use with up too 100VM's. Oh, and remember extra RAM as Vista lekker chows all your memory :p

Download the WAMP package here: http://www.wampserver.com/en/

It runs fine on my 64 bit Vista.

Oh: Another thing. Is you Skype running? I can't get my MySQL server to start when Skype is running. I think they use the same ports or something?

I don't have Skype Installed on this machine... But I will play around a bit with the Admin Rights on Windows Vista, and see if I can tweak it a bit. . .

By the way, I haven't played too much yet on Vista, and what I want to know if I can disable the Popups telling me to be an administrator to install or run an App?

Thanx...!
