Mysterious battery drain while I am sleeping?

I dont own a BB, only going on what okes in this forum have said about whatsapp and bb, so I cant confirm or deny what I read. Try without whatsapp for a night?
 
I think it's fairly obvious what's been happening:

You could also have an issue with Bluetooth and other wireless connections active which could kill the battery too. Worth a look. I turn the Blue off in order to avoid it from trying to connect to my fridge to order milk which I don't drink

I never have Bluetooth or wifi switched on. I only use my GSM connection and it stays on 2G only. So cant be that either.
 
Do you maybe have Twitter installed?

I had Twitter on my Torch. It killed my battery each and every night.

Deleted Twitter (no idea WTF the fascination with it is anyways) and all was well again.

I have Whatsapp running and I sometimes forget my Garmap running as well an it didn't kill the battery like Twitter.

Nope...I dont have Twitter installed either. I am too scared so I plug my phone into the charger now every night. If my battery drains again during the night and my alarm dont go off I am fcked. "Sorry boss....my battery was drained by aliens so alarm did not go off" aint gonna fly with da bossman! :-)
 
No need to delete twitter. Just uncheck 'tweet refresh in background'

Turn it off at night. The alarm should ring in the morning. Or at least that's how it works with other cell phones
 
BB, gotto love 'em.

I've seen this happen with BES.
Blackberry Enterprise Services (not tried Blackberry Enterprise Services Express yet).

If you use BES (for Exchange synchronization) then check your BES profile.
Is your BES profile set for "Push" email?

Is BES allowed to "wake up" your phone in order to send/receive mail?

If your BES server is set to push mail every 5 minutes, your network admin (or cell network) may be draining your battery (and everybody else at your company).
Change your phone's BES properties to "PULL" (set it to PULL mail every 15, 30 minutes or 1 hour)

If all else fails, place BB on ground, jump (with boot) onto it and get an I-Phone.

I think I have a idea what has been happening. I think my BIS connection has been dropping during the late hours of the evening. I saw this happen last night at 11:00 on the dot! Went from EDGE to GSM only. Tried rebooting it numerous of times. Eventually phoned into 082155 and practically threatened the poor guys life if he did not sort it out. He did something on the line...told me to switch phone off for 5 minutes and do a battery pull. Worked again after that. I will see if it happens again tonight. I think it is conceivable this has been happening while I am sleeping and the phone tries to re-establish the connection and so it drains my battery. Saw on my proposed invoice on the system that I have been charged R50 for data usage this month so far! So someting definately aint right. I hardly ever browse the net...just use it for BBM and the occasional mail here and there. Will see what they say.

WTF? The whole point of the BB email is that it's push - and not "push every 5 minutes" either, it's instant push.

You gotta love VC! This has been happening to me as well. First on Monday night around 8. Then on Tuesday morning at around 5am my phone was on GSM, I usually wake up at 7:30 so I dnt know how long has this been going on for. And then it happened lastnight as well from around 9:30 till I went to bed at about 11:15. Did battery pull, scanned networks and even re-registered on the wireless network again but nothing helped! My bro was with me lastnight and he's bbm notifications were coming in thick and fast. He's also on VC but wasn't experiencing any of the pain.

What fixed it on Monday night was switching to 2G&3G mode. Lastnight it helped to a certain extent, but not much.
