MyWireless Frequently Asked Questions

1 - What happens if the monthly subscription go down but you signed the contract, do you pay less or do you have to pay the orignal amount? (i.e if you sign the 24 month contract at R650 but the price goes down or up, do your monthly payment change or are you locked in at R650)

2 - Is the current problem with pings due to the technology or just a routing issue (i.e. can it be fixed)? In other words, will gaming ever be feasable on myWireless?

2. Short answer: probably not (due to packet loss) You wont ever have a zero loss connection (unless you have above 60% signal and are close-ish to the tower. The signal travels multiple paths between your modem and the tower causing re-transmitted packets. Low ping times arent the only factor.

Please note your answer to the question: “Is the bandwidth good? Is there a Cap?” is inaccurate. The entire packaged product is a contended product. All the bandwidth is shared, not half.

Unfortunately I can not make an official statement on behalf of Sentech in the forum but you can take my word for it. If you give Sentech a call and ask to speak to the MyWireless portfolio manager he can give you the official statement. In the mean time I will see to it that the call centre is made aware of their mistake.

I also find that there's a big gap between marketing -- technical and call centre.

You guys should really considering getting all of the parties concerned together for a 1 - 5 hour conference discussing these untruths. Confusing the client up to the point of frustration is not a good idea... and those clients frequenting here, usually knows whats going on, just think of poor Joe Public that gets this information. We all know they're like sheep, I mean, till today I get people coming online during the day on a public holiday thinking that it's callmore time.... because their (outdated) Phone Directory says so

Pfff

/me slaps dw just for fun

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

Noone you are correct when you say that Sentech is suffering from a large message inconqruency but things to keep in mind is that they have been in business for about a month (to public) and I personally think that they did not expect the large scale public demand which has been sparked by their product offering.

2 weeks ago in the Sunday Times business section they had a Sentech article where the "to process" applications was standing at 2000 if memory serves correct and apporved was standing at 300 users.

I think this company was just caught unprepared for the huge public demand which came with a radically new product offering and now they are fighting intake, internal communication, external messages and communication congruency and validity along with many other factors which I have noticed on this board such as the 8 week lead time for approval, technical updates to towers causing downtime etc etc.

The customer in the end has an option bundled or unbundled, one comes with an 8 week lead time and the other not, it is up to the customer to find the best way to purchase their product and also service their needs. Sentech is not the only company in this; there are a whole bunch of others who also give technical assistance, sales and customer service help desk type support.

Deon, if you opened a business that, lets say offered, eternal youth, to your clients, and you are a 1 man show... don't you think that is a bit silly? I mean, every WOMAN ON EARTH would knock at your door for your product.

Taking your points into consideration, I think Sentech is very unprofessional and has no business sense. But, not taking your point in consideration, I just think that their biggest mistake is outsourcing so many of the tasks being done.

Modems/Towers are outsourced to another company (although they have their own technical team as well) Then their call centre is outsourced as well. Hell, even the outsourcing people outsource people of their own to handle things (look at nowire)

I know that they have 10000 modems, that the figure of the 2000 was more than 4000 in february, and that the number of connected clients is not JUST 300. Remember, they launched this end of Jan, I've been connected since Feb, and they are not in this for "just 1 month"

Many things have changed since Feb I can tell you that, even their application process (somewhat, they still require sperm samples)

I just think they could have thought things through a bit. I've been making my own money since I was 13 years old, worked my ass off (still do) part owner in my dad's family business he started 7 years ago, and feel I know more about business methods than they do. (Yes, haha, but seeing what they're doing and how I would have done things, pfff)

Maybe it's just because it's my JOB thinking up easy to use solutions with minimal effort of both client and company...

Anyway... workie work work [:p]

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

I presume you're not getting the MyWireless to work with USB in NT4...

Well, you could buy the network cable(R250 I think).... If the

MyWireless software works on NT4 then you're set to go... If not you'll have to use another PPPoE client... A good free one for windows would be: http://www.raspppoe.com/

Hope this helps.

Hello Brett,

With the ethernet cable you don't need any special drivers - just use rp-pppoe (comes with most recent Linux distros)

If you are referring to TheRodent's ard work to get it to work with the 2.6 kernel via USB... Unlikely. From what I've seen/heard a port to 2.4 is unlikely at best. If at all possibly look at making the move to the 2.6 stack... she's looking good... just a few driver issues for me at the moment ;-)

Oh and you say "an always-on connection is now within reach of all Individuals" but your fine print is "Offer extends to members of sectional title stands only"...now that is just plain lying marketer speak.

What crap - now bugger off and go place ads in the miniads or whatever else i can use for kitty litter lining...

Correct resellers have not been announched, this is Sentech's perogitive.

If you need anything regarding MyWireless let me know. Can do it all.

Don't want to selflessly promote on this forum, but if you want the product I am likely to point to myself.

Hello MyDraadloos (cool username by the way):

If you don't mind me asking, under who are you an agent? In which areas do you operate?

PS: Yes it's true, sentech has not officially announced it's partners. I do know, however, that Nowire is one of them (obviously), and I fall under them. It may be wise for sentech/nowire and so on to stop appointing new agents as too many agents will dilute the customers, cause an administrative nightmare, and so on.

Just a suggestion...
