MyWireless RIP

This is however not the end for Sentech in the broadband market. The company said previously that in addition to their core business of broadcasting signal distribution, it will concentrate on offering a wholesale broadband network as a common platform for all service providers.

I actually think that will be a good idea. At least give the smaller ISP's something to get a foot in the door with. I am sure the big resellers would also be interested and I would not be surprised if they made the proposal.

Since they have the licence, a good chunk of the spectrum and access to the right highsites, let them be and let the ISP's do what they do best.

The bottom line is the Sentech network that is going to waste at the moment can start becoming fully operational again and to a degree give users more options. This is good for all users and the ISP still have the opportunity to migrate the users if the wheels fall off again.

Now iBurst should do the same because if I was a reseller I would migrate my users to Sentech.

This is the next phase in competition.

It would be interesting to know if the Sentech Ip network should not strictly become part of Broadband Infraco.

reminiscence
#mywireless back in the days with all the old regulars.

I also fondly remember playing counter strike source with a ping of 180-250, causing some ruffled feathers with the ADSL usersm who had trouble shooting me when I can be in 2 places at once and then nowhere all of a sudden.

Same here :) MyWireless did give us an unfair advantage over the ADSL users playing CS.

256k users were lucky - they got 196.* IP addresses all the time if I remember correctly. 128k users like myself had to disconnect and reconnect several times before we were allocated a 196.* IP. ProAsm's tool automated the disconnect/reconnects though, which made it a lot easier to connect to the news servers :D

I stopped using MyWi when my modem got stolen (along with a lot of other items). I still wonder to this day what the thieves did with that modem or what they advertised it as when trying to pawn it off...

I think it will be appropriate for TheRoDent to do the eulogy :D

Hellz yea, and as one of the guys that participated in meeting with Sentech to sort out the problems, I'm proud to say that EVERYONE who has EVER asked me if Sentech MyWireless was worth it got my full, honest opinion.

*Dances on the ashes*

And I hope the exec's read this and go, "They were right"

FU to all of them especially their call center manager... :P
