MyWireless RIP

I think it will be appropriate for TheRoDent to do the eulogy :D

Unfortunately poor service levels dogged the new broadband provider, resulting in a consumer backlash led by a group of MyBroadband members. This damaged the reputation of Sentech’s MyWireless service, something which the company never really recovered from.

Noetel: Beware.

Awesome - nice to see we accomplished something in all these years.
:p

i used their 128K offer which cost R499 and included 10Gig a month for 3 years after they launched it. at the time, it was definitely the best deal on the market although too unreliable to use for business purposes.
I only stopped using it b/c i moved to an area without coverage.
So although they lost the plot very quickly, the first subscribers actually got their money's worth.

This is however not the end for Sentech in the broadband market. The company said previously that in addition to their core business of broadcasting signal distribution, it will concentrate on offering a wholesale broadband network as a common platform for all service providers.

Who would be dumb enough to do business with them?

I am also an ex user that used them in the early days. used it for 2 years to run my home and home business. Work decently well. Used to do 30GB on my 256k connection at 599pm before they put the 20GB fair usage limit in. I even have a 24dbi dish antenna still on by roof to connect me to the nearest highsite. Miro were the go to people for mywireless kit in those days. I also fondly remember playing counter strike source with a ping of 180-250, causing some ruffled feathers with the ADSL usersm who had trouble shooting me when I can be in 2 places at once and then nowhere all of a sudden.

It was the same price as ADSL, but then you needed to buy bandwidth.

When my subscription came to an end, I upgraded to uncapped express ADSL and saw the steady and shard decline of the service.

Ah jolly good, why dont you lot just light a match and torch the rest of the country, then we can all sing along as it goes up in flamessss, yay!:)

ADSL is really shaping up. I remember when Sentech was the best when it comes to downloading gigs and gigs of junk per month.

Please telkom, lower your line rental costs so I can get OFF wireless (not MyWireles)

Good riddance to bad rubbish. I hope Telkom heeds this warning...

No surprises here. Useless bunch.

Actually the only surprise is that they didn't pull the plug years ago.

Why?!?!? Just let it be, you just gonna stuff it up again.

I had them for 4 years and in my experience it was stable, reliable and I very rarely had problems with it or was down for longer than a few hours.Yes, it was slow, but my 128 connection and 10GB was perfect for me. When I moved house last year it worked on the day I switched it on. It is a pity that the plot was thrown out with the bathwater, the stable, horse and everything else.
Their reseller Nowire was/is abysmal. For 18 months I never recieved and invoice from them, their "support" was non existant and to this date I have had nothing else from them apart from the formletter that sentech was going phut. I have no idea who owns the modem, or whether the debit order wil be cancelled or even whether I would be interested in any other "service" they provide. They sure are hungry for business arent they?
I hope Neotel goes and reads the now defunct sentech forums and tries to avoid the pitfalls and booboo's, but somehow they seem to be making the same mistakes.

Byebye Mywi.. I will miss you.

when I looked at using them they were slower and more expensive than iburst- and that was when iburst was charging R250 a gig- im not surprised they couldn't survive
