N73 or N80

Sorted, thank you. Can you please tell me how to 'force' 3G.

Tools, Settings, Network. Change the option under Network Mode. UMTS = 3G, GSM = GPRS, Dual Mode = Hybrid (phone decides and switches between the two).

Sorry, but not allowed to post attachments on this site. anyone know where I can post a pic??

Alternatively look on page 104 of the manual. Also downloaded on the nokia website.

I already posted a pic, you cant do it im afraid, N80 and E61 only AFAIK.

Sorry for not responding regularly, but actually sitting at the seaside in the eastern cape and not on the internet that regularly:D :D .

My ISP is NashuaMobile and I'm on MTN. I actualy got the phone (N73) on an Cell-C deal am now using the phone on the MTN contract.

The forcing 3G is definitely not a WiFi thing - Two guys at work have the nokia N90 and both can force 3G in the network setting. One guy is with Cell C but did not see the other guy's provider - just checked the forcing 3 g setting. N90 does not have WiFi. Might be that the vodafone branding disables the force 3g setting or it may be a later firmware version as the vodafone branding firmware is usually a few versions behind the unbranded firmware.

Crap you right!:D
So is it a branding issue or a firmware issue?

Maybe it could be because of countries that only use the UMTS network?

Thanks jalize. SO....
You on MTN without any branding on the N73 and you can force the "3G only" setting ...
While 2 others, both with Vodacom Vodafone branded N73's cannot force the "3G only" setting...
Interesting coincidence.

nah nah nah nah :D
Who really knows with these cell providers.
Admittedly, I got the results I wanted (MTN works, VC not) so now I will just have to see for myself.
