N95 vs N96 and N82

Ha ha ha JK8 so much subjectivity and not much objectivity is these posts of yours!

So as long as they give me lots of things to play with and fiddle with in terms of settings it does not matter what the end photograph looks like? Fair enough....

We have also covered 9.2 versus 9.3 extensively in another thread.... firmware updates seem to have covered all of these "upgrades" anyway. If you would like I can find (again) and post the link to the differences between the two versions, but I'm sure you really won't read it anyway.
 
well the symbian isn't a factor regarding the use of apps.cause at the moment my N95 can install anything without certificate issues or untrusted parties crap.and i'll do the same with n82 regardless of files being .sis or .sisx

Piesang, you have not once posted any proof for your statements. Did you look at the benchmarking link? I fear not! The N96 performs worse than the N95! Oh but wait that does not matter because it is a new release and that is all that matters! :rolleyes:

It has got nothing to do with believing what you want, it has to do with facts. Do some research instead of regurgitating what the advertising guys will have you believe!!

Proof? I think the N95 is the worst performing high end phone on the market, the N95 8GB is one of the better ones definately!!

Well if you had actually used that benchmarking link earlier that I provided you would have been able to see this proof for yourself.... I felt no need to actually provide it earlier but seeing as though you asked.

As seen from the test score, N96 displays a lower performance than N85 and a much worse one than N95 basing off OMAP 2420. The lack of a 3D accelerator is blatant in the JBenchmark 3D test. N96 lags behind in other tests as well. The gap may be accounted for by the use of a newly developed platform, while N85 employs a platform which has been through a long evolution of improvements and optimizations shared by Nokia N78 and N81 models.

@LancelotSA, I must agree with you here,
The gsmarena user comments are full of complaints about the tardiness of the phone UI and the overall sluggish feeling when using the device, besides,
the biggest selling point - DVB-H television is not even commercially available..

I was contemplating this phone too, but after ALOT of reading and comparisons, I got myself an N95 8gb for a very good price, which will keep me going till next year, hopefully the n96 refres aka n96-1 will be worthy of notice, or maybe even one of the unannounced Symbian touchscreens..

Till apple sort out a 3g vid-call camera, autofocus, flash and java jvm support, the iphone just doesnt do it for me.

And Winmo is like trying to make a call on a toaster..

Once again Lance you make a compelling argument for the N82. I had my mind set on the N96 but it's not worth the premium, not even vaguely unfortunately I suffer from the same malaise as Piesang in that I probably will only consider the latest releases when it's time to upgrade. Bearing that in mind the winner could just be the N85. You've already posted mostly positive stuff on here about it...

Either that or the Touch Pro/Experia X1 if one wanted something really ridiculously specced and WM...
 
Yeah, I myself cannot really understand the apparent backwards step by Nokia with the N96.

But in saying that the one link does talk about the fact that they have switched across to the new processor type due to the future options it offers them and the fact that it is much easier on the battery than the old processors. For this reason you will see the N96 has a smaller capacity battery. That same site then also mentions the fact that the previous processor has had the benefit of time for Nokia to correct any problems and make major advancements.

I suppose that is a negative with new technology, it is still being worked on when first released and it will be a while before it works at full potential. So I have no doubts that this new processor will work wonders in future Nokias but for now it seems anyone buying the N96 is in fact a Nokia guinea pig! :)

The N82 has benefited from all the Nokias that came before it!

That's insane!!! So instead of extending the battery life with a new processor they using a smaller capacity battery so in effect there's no gain to the end user in terms of battery life?!!! Crazy!! Anyway the points been laboured some what but pound for pound the N82 appears to be a winner...
 
Well, as promised, my N82 experience so far. I too, laboured with the decision of which device to get.
After much the same pattern as whats going on here, I got the N82, purely because it really is still the best value for money. I dont get this argument about it being old tech and all that crap.

Anyways, here goes.

I picked up my sealed N82 friday night, hurried home, cracked the seal, revealing the most perfect set of 36D's I've ever seen..hahaha
Ok, now that I have your attention....

Putting it all togethere, I discovered the battery had quite a bit of charge, so i decided to run it flat using the camera and whatever else I could run on the phone, to make it flat.
The phone is built very well, and the camera is out of this world. I'm really seriously impressed with the camera. I could say that a million times.

The UI is fast, the sound and colors are amazing. This phone can pretty much do it all. You can even set intervals for when to check your email. This pretty much mimics BB push email :)

The accelerometer works really nicely in almost all views of the phone.
Browser is impressive and I havent had a single thing it hasnt rendered, looks just like a PC browser.

Just about the camera again, the video @ 30FPS is amazing, really.

I have to re-iterate, the N82 and all the new Nokia's behave in almost the same way. You basically just choose your configuration, whether its slide or with KB or excellent camera.

I havent really gotten into it seriously yet, especially the GPS. Will comment more again as I go. Especially when I get the OMnia, to compare.

But essentially, the Nokias are rock solid and everything works so smoothly. I especially like the MM button, the menus are slick and rotate and extremely user friendly.

You could've had the same experience with the N96, only better. That large screen is excellent.
