Name and Shame: Unauthorised Debit Orders Thread

Also Outsurance??? Hmmmm...this is pissing me off!
Interesting...I have both telkom and outsurance...absa fraud department gave me some useless number to call 011 4831188 which just ring and rings...am done with absa bank...am really pissed off now as well...

Im with ABSA. This amount has also been debited from my account. So is their nothing we can do about it? Its clear the banks does not care about their clients. Ive been working 2 years now in Sydney and this has been the 3rd time illegal debit orders has gone of my account. The first one was from Telkom +-R9000 went off, then it was MTN with a monthly debit order of R699 going off for about 4 months and now this. Its really becoming crazy and nobody is doing nothing about it.

Also affected, opened a Telkom contract for the September Big Deal, deduction happened on 02-Nov. Will speak to bank (Standard Bank). I have NO other debit orders other than Telkom so this suspiciously looks like something Telkom related.

anyone know where this umvuso payment solution is. i will go there personally.

Hi everyone. Same happened to me on Friday evening 2/11/2018, with ABSA- ACB DEBIT- EXTERNAL UPS NCONNUPS15 for R99. Contacted ABSA this morning to reverse it and after waiting 30 minutes was told by the consultant that it would cost R30 to reverse it regardless of whether I went into the bank or whether I did it online via internet banking. She also informed me that to STOP further debits, I would have to complete a form in the bank??? and for every debit reversal I would be charged R30, which is madness! She did reverse the debit and I immediately received an sms "RETURNED SETTLEMENT-ACB DEBIT REVERSAL,UPS NCONNUPS15. I logged onto STOP it. Not sure if I would still have to go in then since absa online banking has an option for reversal and stopping it??? VERY FRUSTRATING :(:(:(
R30 to reverse a debit order? It does not sound right, anyone else banking with ABSA?

The only thing I have in common is that Telkom also has my banking details from a LTE contact I had up until recently.
I have not signed up for or changed details anywhere else in over 2 years.

What bothers me most, is that the reference number and date does not remain the same. So a stop order would be futile IMO. Also, moving your money to a sub-account might work only if the debit order goes off on a day when you do not need money in your normal account for other debit orders. There is no way to completely mitigate your risk.
Also for noting: if the debit order goes off and you have insufficient funds, due to all your money being in your sub-account, you will be charged a fee of R5.55 (Capitec). Internet banking debit order reversal now active for Capitec, at a fee of R20.18. My first phone call and email to Capitec was 25 October. I am still waiting for a "Service Admin Team Leader" to contact me regarding this fraud, and the associated fees for reversal.

crazzzzzzzy right? I know! thus far, I do not see any deduction of R30 so I am hoping that I was incorrectly informed. Additionally, she informed me that the only way to stop the debits would involve going into the bank and completing a form, WHY then is there a STOP option on internet banking ???

NOT KEEN at all... was just pointing out a similarity
Yes not referring to you in particular, it is just the general feeling in this thread. I am sure if we were to sit down and compare notes we would find we have plenty of things in common than Telkom.

I also have TELKOM. Strangly maybe just coincedance but my TELKOM debit order was also reversed on the same dat as the R99 UPS one. And as far as i know i did not do it.

Would love to know whether Telkom and Outsurance use the same company to handle their debit orders. Because that looks to me is the common factor here...

Maybe there was a misunderstanding, I think that R30 is perhaps for stopping such a debit order in future, which won't help anyway. I did a similar thing with Standard bank I get notifications fot these debit orders in advance, charged me R55 and the debit order still went through, couple of days later i recieved an sms that the debit order has been stopped, after it went off?

Just seen that this has happened on my account - R99 deducted. Only happened to be checking it, because another lady in the office asked if I knew what "UPS insurance" was? She banks with FNB and I'm with ABSA and we've both been hit. As for the ABSA bank charges, When I reversed another fraudulent debit order last week, in the branch, it cost me R33 odd, when I did the other debits from the same human $h!tstain via online banking, it was only about R8 per reversal. I'm now also in the process of closing my ABSA account and opening somewhere else
