Nandos quality deteriorating?

Well haven't had the SA one in a while...but:

Had Nandos on a UK airport (LHR or LGW, can't remember)...worst Nandos I've had in my life by a big margin (paid like 150zar for it...wasn't worth 30). Nandos in UK cities is much better...more expensive than ZA but also better quality.

I've noticed the whole fastfood thing is highly dependent on branch and time. Some branches are just plain better than others so I'm wary of this brand vs that brand. Also...catch them at a bad time and you get stale chips etc.

How did they try to be like BK or MCD?

Those are both burger joints, not flame grilled chicken joints.
Yes, but my point is they trying to copy their methods, in all other ways.
It's actually quite sad,
But one only has to look at all their marketing to understand what going on.

They are more focused on experience now than food, next time your at a Nandos look around,

The whole experience s what they want to do, and have you remembering

Personally dont like any of it,

Umm no they aren't. They are a fast food joint and always have been. Certain things are common across all large successful fast food joints.

Of course its about the experience, has been for a very very long time..

Yes, but why have they deteriorated considerably? Like spur almost.

Fair enough, corporate vs franchised stores and all that.
But still, if people get used to something, it should stay "roughly" the same.
I mean you always had fabric seats on a kulula plane, then suddenly they go to plastic garden chairs, while the price triple....

Just using that as a example, but you get my point.....

Nandos is a marketing company, not a food company anymore.

Nandos is and always has been a food company. That is where they make their money. The marketing and "experience" is a means to get feet through the door to buy the food.

The quality has deteriorated in the quest to maximise profits.

Why should things stay "roughly" the same if people are used to it? A company provides a product/service and if they chose to change it it is entirely their own decision, and the consequences of that are entirely their own.

I remember very well the original restaurant in Rosenttenville. It was a truly unique dining experience with excellent Portuguese/Mozambican food to be had. You could order mild, medium, etc spiced dishes.

There is NO WAY the food now dished up comes close to the quality you got then. Now the "chicken" is just a vehicle to hold together the spices, and they might as well serve processed cardboard, it will do the job equally well. Very similar to what one gets at some steakhouses these days, where the meat looks and tastes like processed cardboard.

If one tries get them to "spice down a dish", it is always a disaster .........

the livers is gone to like R30+

it costs like R10 for that to make

other than the livers i dont eat anything at nandos cos its a waste of money

So I contacted Nandos via their Facebook page and they claim that they have not changed their portion sizes or the weight of their precooked chicken at all.

You mean takeaways did actually deliver quality at some time in the past?

Nandos has never been on my list of places to get a takeaway.

Have no idea why everyone wants such spicy food .....

Used to be very good. But 8-10 years ago I remember having the spicey rice and chicken. All of a sudden the chicken got about halfed. Thought no thanks. They can keep it. Then we changed to chicken kebabs. then the portions also got smaller and on shorter sticks.

Wasn't it Chickenland? I might be thinking of another place. Hell, their stuff used to be good. These guys started Nandos if I'm not mistaken. I haven't been in the Souf in years.

so the weights must be recorded if they can say that with confidence, perhaps they can supply us with the data, especially within the context of looking at Nerfherder's signature above this post.

I'm not a huge eater so would always go with a quarter chicken and chips meal. Now, even adding a a roll to that I'm left feeling hungry after. Quality I wouldn't know, not a foodie type person.

Buy full BBQ chicken from Woolies/P&P, + 1 bottle Nando's sauce. Problem solved.

had a half chicken meal at the Nandos in Kloof Street which I thoroughly enjoyed, compared to the other two branches this difference is significant, although its a distance to walk for me.

Precooked the chicken weighs in at 56Kg, post cooked its a poultry (sic) 100g .... but their khuku weight loss program is going like a boeing
