Duhlong-winded explanation for Porchrat.
The Earth orbits around the sun (and not around the moon).
Therefore the moon's gravity doesn't have an effect on Earth and can't influence tides except the neap and spring? *BWOOP* inferring something stupid alert *BWOOP*That means the earth is bound by the gravitational force of the sun (and not the moon)
Nope. The moon accounts for a massive portion of the gravitational force influencing the tides. It in conjunction with with the sun is the major determinate of tides but the moon does most of the work. You know gravitational force is inversely proportional to distance between the objects right? Try again.Seeing as the Earth is a "satellite" of the sun it is only reasonably (and logic) to state that it is in fact the sun's gravity that dictates tides on Earth.
Nope. See above. The moon's gravity merely exacerbates (spring tide) or cancels-out (neap tide) the existing gravitational pull of the sun.
Sure but they would be so very very tiny so as not to matter. Completely different to how they are now.No moon = we'll still have tides.
Wrong again. Stop being a moron.Only spring and neap tides will be absent.
I mean seriously did you not read your own fscking links you provided?
From Wikipedia THE FIRST FREAKING SENTENCE!!!:
Not spring tides, not neap tides. Tides. Fullstop. Oops.Tides are the rise and fall of sea levels caused by the combined effects of the gravitational forces exerted by the Moon and the Sun and the rotation of the Earth.
Oh look here is another sentence in the very next paragraph:
Again ALL tides. Not just neap and spring tides. Oopsx2.The times and amplitude of the tides at the coast are influenced by the alignment of the Sun and Moon
Oh look Wikipedia even provided a diagram to help morons like you that don't like reading big words:
Oh look, the moon causing high and low tides... not just spring and neap tides. Oopsx3.
Now crawl back into your cave of ignorance where you think the moon is only responsible for neap and spring tides and leave those of us that can read to our books and reliable information.
