NAT issues

I enjoy online gaming.
But everytime I connect to XBL I get a message that my NAT is not open.
Anyone got advice on how to correct this.
I hate not getting the best service I can when I know it is possible to improve it.
I have a DuoPlus 300WR router.

You must setup port forwarding on your ADSL router:

If your router supports UPNP, then enable that. Then you don't need to do the port forwarding.

the duo supports upnp just go switch it on and then do not have to stress about port forwarding

I have the same router and I'm trying to host a peer to peer gaming session but right now it's not visible to others trying to join in the server list. Advice on the game's support forum (DCS A10c flight sim) says to enable port forwarding on my router but will thisgeek's method work here? To find clear documentation on port forwarding for the duo is hard to come by and quite frankly it's all a bit greek to me.
