Unless you are voting for some National unknown party (that I strongly suggest you do not do) that is not listed as a party under your province, your vote should not differ. KISS comes to mind ...

I know my votes will be identical.

Yes, you can. There are also certain provinces that are strongholds of certain parties, and the people may choose to keep them, but go with another party for the national vote.

Should differs from Could differs from Cannot.
All I am saying is, in most cases it will not differ. In the western cape at least. Like AvatarS rightly pointed out some parties might have an upper hand in some provinces and it would be stupid not to vote for them for whatever reasons.

The last time I split my vote (2004) between the DA & the ACDP
Tony Leon was its leader (doubtful).. but I aligned with their policies
The other to the ACDP because I believed it to be my christian duty... but now... I remember... preachers belong at the pulpit... not in Politics
Its good for them to give advice when asked... then otherwise preach moral values to the public

Both my votes will now go to the DA... try split it.. its your choice... but you will see later that it isn't wise...
as I myself could have helped the DA with both votes... and they could have in turn help the masses quicker

Actually Pooky, that's not the worst idea in Natal. The IFP is the only party that could conceivably beat or challenge the ANC in that province. However on a national scale they stand no chance.
