Nedbanks Approve-IT system

This would be one of the reasons I'm moving from Nedbank actually...

They screwed me over with the OTP system which ended up with my Internet Banking being suspended...

I also much prefer this new system to the SMS OTP. It must be cell phone number based. If there is a cloned sim out there will both really get the USSD message? If so, I guess 1 will approve and 1 will reject. If the bank system is intelligent enough it will rollback the transaction if it gets different answers within a specific time period.

@OP: want to change your rant now that you've discovered that it uses USSD and it's free?

I'm happy with the new system, thank you.

No, the cost implication wasn't really a factor for me in terms of my rant, though I would have been pissed if it was something that was costing me and Nedbank had not notified me or given the option to opt out.

For me the biggest rash (and I realise its a small thing) is having to reply to these stupid messages and having to do so more then once per transaction.

I bank with Nedbank and I prefer the new system to be honest. SMS's seem to get delayed often preventing me from using internet banking where the new system seems faster. Not sure what technology is at the back end but I have not once had the yes no message pop up late.

I think for anyone doing multiple transactions it can be a pain in the rear quarters.

Thanks for writing this. I feel a rage everytime I wait for their delayed approval that sometimes doesn't arrive at all. I have an account with FNB which is way better in every way. I am in process of moving across due to Aprove it and the new on-line banking site. ApproveIT system is terrible.
