Need a dentist - a really good dentist.

Had to go to my dentist today for a filling and might have to have a root canal due to cavity depth. 2nd in 2 years. I had zero issues with my teeth until I hit 30, guess its all uphill from here. :(

Do you floss at least once a day?
Gargling with salt water after brushing is also very effective.

Floss religiously and gargle with mouthwash. I've tried the salt water once or twice but not regularly. Dentist mentioned it seems like I'm brushing too hard.Weird thing is all the issues are on the left side of my mouth.Right side is going strong.

Same here!

I had NO issues, but in the last 2 years, I've had 1 root canal and a tooth that broke :(

When I was MUCH younger I had a bicycle accident and broke my 2 front teeth. One of them is completely dead (no feeling), but it's crowned so it looks normal. It's started to wiggle a bit (very slightly) so I want to have it removed and either bridged or get an implant.

How would brushing too hard give you holes, it'll wear down your enamel and give you receding gums but not holes?

It is weird if you have decent dental hygiene to get holes so bad you need root canals. Do you go once a year for dental checkups?

She didn't go into detail about the brushing,was just a passing comment. I've only had one root canal and I go to the dentist for a check up and clean once a year. Think it's a genetic thing and me grinding when stressed doesn't help either.

Over brushing causes receding gums which exposes the parts under the gum which is where the infection happens. And yes, it is possible to over brush. I switched to electric with a warning light for pressing too hard.
 
Same here, never had any dental issues, only went to a desist probably 3 times my life. Now at 31 I can feel i have a hole or something on in of my back teeth, its sensitive when i bite down. I suspect i'll need a filling. Unfortunately my medical aid does not cover dentist.
Whats the average price for a filling?

I had a xray and filling for 700,if they don't need to xray I'd guess around 500
 
nah its not that bad but I'm sure it depends where you go.Its still a pain to fork over the cash,but atleast dentists work for their money,not like some GPs who charge a few hundred for writing a sick note :D

That sounds about right, don't leave it though because if it is a hole it can get really pricey, root canals etc. Could possibly just be sensitive teeth as a result of teeth grinding whilst you sleep.
 
Anyone help with good denture guys on the West Rand Krugersdorp area ? Broke a tooth half into gum......last of four remaining bottoms
 
Sorry, can't help in the West Rand. The dentist I go is not available this weekend, only from 2 May onward. And yes I have a full set of dentures with implants.
 
Dr Jordaan, @Health Medical Center, Jean Ave, Centurion.
I really would recommend him, only trouble is getting an normal appointment. Emergency they squeeze you in if possible.
