Need a laptop with Win 7 Pro 64bit + HDMI + 3G

Hi...

I'm looking to purchase a laptop that comes pre-installed with Windows 7 64bit (or at least the option to install/convert/upgrade to it for free).

The laptop also needs to have an integrated 3G modem, and an HDMI port. Please help!

Would it be easier to just buy Windows 7 64 bit retail for cash, and install it on a laptop of my choice? I don't see any online shops selling laptops with Win 7 64 bit.

Update: I've decided I'll settlte for Windows 7 Professional 32bit.

So to avoid confusion, here's what I am looking for:

+- 15" display
HDMI TV-out port
Integrated 3G modem
Windows 7 Professional 32 bit

So far the closest I've found is the Acer TravelMate 5730g 872g32mn.

Problem is it doesn't come with Win7, only Vista. But you can upgrade to Windows 7 for free, but it will cost approximately 50 USD for handling and shipping.

This has everything except the 3G (could stick 3G modem in the Expresscard slot). But it will be expensive.

This has a bigger screen, Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate, but still no 3G.

I wouldn't buy a non-Windows 7 64-bit notebook and then try to upgrade it - with notebooks you may have driver problems (with touchpad, video camera, function keys, etc)

I have an older Sony SZ notebook and removed my Windows 7 64-bit and installed Windows 7 32-bit because of driver issues.

Most laptops come with Windows 7 32bit.

We've got a BIG range of notebooks.

It comes with the FREE upgrade to Windows 7, which you must apply for before end of January 2010.

I think MS will give you 64bit, as it's the same price as 32bit Windows 7.

How does the free upgrade work? Do you provide discs? Or do I need to apply for them online?

I've read in several places that they are free, but you need to apply online, and shipping and handling costs are about 50 USD. Also, you can't upgrade from Vista 32bit to 7 64bit. You have to upgrade from 32bit to 32bit, 64bit to 64 bit, home to home, business to professional, etc. In other words, you can only upgrade Vista to its equivalent Windows 7 version.

Now that was uncalled for. Laptop = Netbook/Notebook AFAIK. The thing does have an HDMI port. Have you checked the offically site from ASUS?

Windows 7 64Bit can be installed with the same key supplied for 32bit...

Only thing, like I said, is that it doesn't have 3G.
 
Just curious, would the upgrade discs require an actual upgrade, installing over the old OS, or would you be able to do a "clean" install?

Clean(custom) if it is 32bit to 64bit.

P.S. Nvidia ION(9400M) pwns Intel integrated graphics.

PC Direct - do you have this in stock? I've decided to stick with Windows 7 Professional 32bit.

Update: Never mind its 13.3" display. I need 15/15.4"/15.6"

Can recommend this one although it is a fingerprint magnet. I have the one up (Probook 4510s)

I have yet to see a laptop preloaded with a 64bit os.

My last 3 work laptops were all Acers (over the last 3 years), and I haven't had any problems with them. The company I used to work for only used to purchase Acers, and they haven't had any problems.

In any case, I've heard good things about HP and Dell, so I am willing to consider them.

Thanks, now that makes it clearer to me. Will see if I can find anything.

EDIT: I'm pulling up blanks as well... The Acer/Dell looks like your best bet in SA in a 15"+/- model.

OK if I try to do order an upgrade from the above link, and I choose South Africa, it says the cost is 49.90 USD. If I choose United States, it tells me the cost is 0.00 USD.

I went further and tested this with the serial number of my current Acer TM, and it works. It says I don't need to enter credit card info coz the cost is free.

Now the question is, can I use http://www.myus.com/ to get a much cheaper shipping rate? How does it work?
