or run a server search with the following: -= SGS. Then add them all to your favorites for click & play.

All you need to know is posted and aside from the occasional hissy fit by ppl like MOFO it's actually a really fun place :)

As far as using unlocks, if you see a kit lying on the ground you can pick it up using 'G' and 90% of the time the guy had an unlock so you can use his! :)

I'm an admin for BF2 (chuckstar_za) and if you need any help pls feel free to either PM me here or on SGS. We will be running a 'n00b' night soon where vets will help the noobs learn the game and it's general tactics etc.. to help you guys become better players.

Ah I've seen you around chuckstar. When will this 'n00b' night be? But if I wanted to get a higher unlock what server can I go to? If you know of any servers. And chuck my name on BF2 is Jooshl33t. I think you've seen me around as well :D.

When will the n00b night begin cos I'm battling quite a bit.
 
I've just got to make a few arrangements with getting a server organized and having some vet's to teach you guys and then we can set a date. I'm hoping withing 2-3 weeks, possibly sooner :)

pls let me know when this will happen coz I would love to be at that night. Just gotta double check which was the last patch I downloaded.

I guess I know if I don't have the right one where the "extra" 500MB Iburst gives is going to go:p
 
You need patch 1.41 which is 500MB (ouch!) Also make sure you have Highway Tampa installed too.

I will be making a post on the SGS forums regarding the noob night in the near future. Keep an eye open.

Thanks Chuckstar, can't wait for n00b night :D. Now I gotta find out how to get this highway tampa working.

One question when you install it and all does it show up on single player as well? Because i've installed it and it doesn't show up any where. :confused: Otherwise i got everything else.

Hey chuckstar are recording programs allowed on SGS servers? Like Fraps and Gamecam? I want to record some games but I don't want to get kicked from the servers. Are there any BattleRecorder SGS servers? And if anyone knows of any good recording programs please tell :D.

Yes, you can use fraps if you wish. Most of the admins do, thats how we ban cheating n00b assholes :)

As far as battlerecorder, it's too system intensive and file size hungry for SGS to run. This may change in future, but for the moment, battlerecorder isn't happening.

FRAPS is your best bet.

EDIT: What program do you use to do effects like changing camera views, stuff like that. I've checked out MM but that doesn't allow me to change the camera views..

Ok... I'm confused... How do you use these recording programs and what's a good 1... Does it use more bandwidth than normal?

Fraps is a download which runs in the background while playing BF2. It WILL slow down your PC when recording so unless you have a good rig then don't bother ;) FPS are your friend...

The files run about 70/80MB per minute (I think) so use sparingly if you do run it..

You need to run battlerecorder. Currently none of the SGS servers run BFrecorder due to bandwidth and hosting space. You could set it up on your own PC during a lan I suppose, but currently I'm not aware of anyone locally doing so so far.

Joosh, I've noticed you play sniper an awful lot, try and get used to all the kits while you are still new or you will struggle later on.

IHMO sniper class is very weak in BF2 unless you are really really good at it.

Thanks for the good advice chuck, I'll keep that in mind. I use sniper a lot because i'm not good in close combat. :( But I'll probably work on assault or medic. Oh by the way is it true that you can only unlock your 3rd wep on any kit when you have 25000 points? (or was it 20000..) :confused:
Pity about no SGS servers with battlerecorder cause I keep getting kicked by the other servers for high ping. :mad:
Fraps usally slows my machine down too much so that I can't play so I don't use it much.

Third tier unlocks are for players with Special Forces time. Special Forces is the main expansion for BF2.

The way to get the unlocks is to play some spec forces time on a ranked Spec forces server and, hey presto, 3rd teir unlocks.

Best way is to buy special forces or use someones PC who has it installed, use your account, get 5 points on a spec forces map and then you have access to 3rd tier...

Also look at the ranking system and that will explain when you are eligible for unlocks.

Personally, I'd unlock either the DAO -12 or PKM first. PKM is awesome once you get used to it, and DAO up close rocks :)
