Need a suggestion for a TV Box or Android Box.

So the Series S works for Dolby Digital? Does it make a difference.

It actually does, you definitely see changes in HDR Videos. I first noticed this when I was a Linus Tech Tips video on the native Youtube app and then used the Xbox.

I unfortunately only have the 1 HDR UHD TV. I definitely know this TV is the culprit. I am planning on getting an OLED in the next 2 years from Samsung or LG. Atleast the Apple TV solves 1 issue, to be able to enjoy content quickly.

I don't want to watch stuff when they want to broadcast it - those times don't suit me and while IPTV does have stuff on demand it might not include everything I want .... Don't forget that IPTV is mostly a collection of channels that are normally broadcast and it's all time based

He can be setting stuff up for her - when my sister was alive she did not have a clue about the tech - I set everything up as far as the network goes and just showed her how to use the remote control and she called me downstairs if she had technical issues but she managed - and she was around 68 years old .... It's not hard to press a few remote control buttons when everything's already setup for you

Dolby Vision playback is dependent on software too even if the hardware supports it - it won't just play by default ... As an example the mi box gen 2 proudly lists DV support but KODI ver 20 does not play it even though the hardware supports it and KODI ver 21 is going to address this BUT in the meantime I can use "just player" and DV plays fine with the Mi box on a Hisense TV
 
Also grabbed a Mi Box Gen 2 the other day, to replace an old Explora decoder in a bedroom. Everything working smoothly so far (streaming apps, Kodi, network shares), happy with it.

There is a bug with DV profile 7 when using Amazon Firestick - it just won't play it, unless you install ONE specific player (Vimu Player) that can handle the stream.
 
So I've been reading this whole thread and I'm looking at the Nova box because of the 16GB that it has. I'm mainly going to install KODI,Stremio,Plex and either tivimate or IPTV Smarters. That's it, really. I'm hoping the Nova will be up for the job.
