Need advice - PCupgrade

If you do get a new pc, try your best to make the 4650 your minimum for graphics card. It beats the 9500gt for about the same price.

No idea why people are posting dealer pricing when you haven't said you can get dealer pricing.

It was just as an indication. Besides, I thought everybody on the forum could get dealer prices from Esquire?

I can get dealer price from Rectron and Pinnacle, so I should be ok. Will buy the MB, CPU and Ram this month and the gfx card next month. Do you think that Gigabyte MB I listed is ok to go for?

you wouldn't consider going 2ndhand by any chance? I would never advise you to get an 8400gs, under any circumstances, if you intend to play games. You'll be robbing yourself.

I don't have anything to offer. conradl posted the 8400...

There is an example of a very cheap complete rig for instance. Your money will go a lot further if you do 2ndhand. But you know, it isn't for everybody.

Sorry Cerrebus, must have missed the 8400gs....wont go for that anyway.
Thing is, I have a HDD, DVD, LCD etc...so I onyl want to change the main parts. Will see what I can do. How much could I sell my old MB, RAM, CPU for? R500?

Don't forget the gpu :) So let's say R6-700 for all those components. Of course you'll need to reformat your hdd when you put it in a new socket but that's ok. So you'll have about R3000 to get yourself a new motherboard, graphics card and processor? That's more than enough.

mobo - R380 (P5kl)
3gb ram - R400
Processor - E7200 (R1k)
GPU - 4770 perhaps (R1,1k).

Yeah, don't take my post as advice on what you should buy - it was just an indication of how your money could be better spent on new hardware instead of new RAM. I simply selected the cheapest in each category....

Although, relative to your current setup, anything will be better than what you have ;)
