Hi guys,
I need an e-mail client for my Telkom email and Win7 RC1 doesnt come with any email client.

It cant be Thunderbird because for some reason it just crashes at start up all the time.
Must be free
Thanks

You could try Seamonkey, which is Firefox and Thunderbird built into one client... or Opera has builtin mail as well.
Have you tried the Thunderbird 3 beta? I'm using that on RTM without hassles.

Works OK, the only problem is the mail is internationally hosted and when capped you are stuck, unless you use ZA-portal proxy

Um... windows mail is an email client just like Thunderbird or Outlook. You can set it up to use any POP3 / IMAP account. I'm using it instead of Outlook and Thunderbird and so far i'm totally impressed. Outlook was having problems with my IMAP... and Windows Live Mail is stable and quick.

The only thing i've found is that it doesn't seem to have a local calender - it hooks into a live account's calender. For that i'm using my live account - which I haven't tried on local only bandwidth - uncapped Neotel :P

@PCsToGo: If Thunderbird is giving you issues, Live Mail is a good option.

gmail? or do you use dial up once a day?

On that note... if ur using FireFox, gmail has that "Offline" option that stores your email locally in a gears database. It'll then synchronise when ur online again.

When i used the fox (using flock now with no plugin for offline gmail mode)... it worked well for me... but i don't like it as a primary mail client. Not to mention it only helps u if ur using gmail.

Yes I use http://mail.live.com/ That is Hotmail at mail.live.com. I had to sign up with it as Windows7/Explorer had no mail client installed like the old Outlook express. The alternative is to use Outlook from office suit which I do not want to use as yet.

I know I can set up any additional mail/POP3/Imap account in it, even Gmail, Google etc. Fact remains if you are capped then there is no local access unless you use a special proxy or buy top_Up/Prepaid because to get to the mailbox I have to go to http://mail.live.com.

So unless this is something new, installed on my PC, please explain the difference?

yeah... i'm talking about the actual email client (as in an actual application that you download and install onto your computer and open from your start bar). - No web browser required.

navigate here: http://download.live.com/wlmail

it'll change ur life:P

Agreed, running windows live mail on RC7100 and very pleased. Or outlook would be my second best bet.

k, looks like Windows Live Mail it is :)

BTW, I have a Telscum 4096 9GB cap... not dial up :(

Yeah  i wondered what you were on about! :D

Windows Live! Seems to me more a concept than anything else then? The Web based E-mail recommend by WIN7/M$ is rather Hotmail as a "Plug in" for Windows live. Never realized they released a "new" Windows Live e-mail client too. Now I am as happy as a chappie.
