Need an intuitive, cool, friendly, easy to use file manager

Format and install XP.... Joke someone had to say it..
Seriously Total Commander is an excellent program. The piclens addon for firefox is cool but can be buggy at times..

I've used Total Commander on Ultimate Boot Cd and I don't like the layout and the GUI that much, got any other suggestions? I think I'm going to get that trial version of the app w1z4rd suggested ;)

You are being difficult today:D.

Do you want a pretty file manager or one with functionality? Google File Boss

Har har har! ;) :D :p

Thanks man, I just installed Directory Opus, it looks fairly cool, gonna look through it ;)

Check out Opus, its a better replacement for explorer, but what Kasyx said about Linux is right, it would be a better choice.

Opus and DirOpus got back to the "old" Amiga days :) Thanks for making me rmbr the good old days of true multi-tasking!

Looks good, let us know if you plan to buy Directory Opus.

Hehe

I can tell you now, unfortunately not.

1. I'm broke
2. I don't own a credit card.
3. I'm broke
4. It's a lot of money, which I don't have
5. I'd rather disable breadcrum ;) :D :p

All I can say to actually buying the software is.. Cough cough cough :D

Explorer is a file mismanager.
How WinBlows to this day cannot make a filemanager with multiple panes and protocols is beyond me.

Eh? It supports multiple protocols...TCP/IP, Netbeui, IPX... :)

UBCD or Ultimate Boot CD for Windows? It won't run on UBCD, and AFAIK it's not loaded on the standard UBCD4WIN distribution.

UBCD for Windows has it included, I'm pretty sure of that fact ;)

I also say Directory Opus, been using it on 5 years now, but alas you pay for it, might look at FileBoss, I have used that before, also pretty cool, and I am pretty sure its free (but cant remember if it had dual panes).

Another one is xplorer2 and then also magellan

*sniff* remembers the days of old ... starting File Manager from Program Manager. File Manager supported multiple windows ...

Hmmm, never noticed it, I must admit...

Not sure which build you have, but in the build I have, after UBCD4WIN loads it creates a quick launch shortcut for it as well, an icon with an x2 in it, I'm sure it's total commander ;)
