Need help selecting a Macbook

Get the Pro, you can upgrade it like other's said.

It'll cost around R3200 to upgrade it to 16GB RAM with a 250GB Samsung SSD (I got all my stuff from Rebeltech) and it will literally take you around 15min to do.

You can also buy a HDD Caddy and remove the CD ROM drive and stick in a second HDD for more space..

Interesting to see someone else asking similar questions that plagued me a month or so ago. I too was hunting for a macbook and got a slightly older model than the ones you are going for but like everyone states here they are very lovely machines. Portable. Not as heavy as i thought. Infact lighter than any laptop I have had before. I'm still on 4gb 500gig HDD setup on my pro but it can still push out and do all the work I need so far. The resale value is higher so you will be able to sell them in future for an even higher price given how the rand is setup right now. If the budget allows it, go retina just know that you wont be able to upgrade. But if not go for the Pro and not the Air.

And to echo the words of a former poster, Once you go mac you can never go back.
