Hello, my neighbor & i share a Telkom 4mb line. The main modem/router connection is in his home which is quite a ways away and we have high power wireless access points that connect our homes. However, I am wondering if it is possible for me to use a ddwrt router at my place as well. I am wanting to have my xbox and another computer connect through an OpenVPN connection which from what I read online can only be shared if it is used on a ddwrt router.

So, how do I go about setting up a router under a network that already has a router without messing everything up. When I have tried it in the past, it screws up my neighbor's connection and his Macs keep trying to get their IP from my router or give IP address errors.

Thank you for the help.

Doable,you just misconfigured ;)

Plug the Wireless AP into the WAN port on your router

Then in the router configuration under internet select "Cable",Allow it to use a dynamic IP or Fixed IP ( depends on the router what it can handle ),as gateway put in the IP of neighbour's Router, save

Then just change your network to use a different IP range than his network.

You'll now be in your own private network with your own internet gateway, which uses his network gateway
