Hi all,

let me start by saying i'm new here but I have always been a huge fan of myBB.

I am looking to get my first laptop, I have always been a desktop kind of guy but I need to go mobile. I need some help with finding a laptop hopefully not more then R8000 with some decent specs.

my peferences are not too major:
cpu: any of the intel i-series will do.
gpu: something decent to play some games on medium settings, like the nvidia 640m is nice.
size: anything 14 inch and bigger.

thats it really, to sum it up - a semi powerful laptop for under R8000 that can play some games like TF2 and CoD black ops and I dont mind 2nd hand laptops so long as they have been treated well.

any help guys would be great. I am new to the laptop scene

thanks. :-)

That Gigabyte one that NomNom suggested seems like the best deal. The best I could find in that class was one that was about R1200 more expensive, but with a better graphics card:
MSI GE60 @ R8548 (i5 3210M, 2x 4GB RAM, 750GB HDD, 15.6" @ 1366x768, GT 650M, Home Premium x64, 2yr warranty)

Lol. :D

Got yours yet? :twisted:

Just sent through a stock enquiry to laptopdirect. You'll be disappointed in me as I settled on the i5. Reason being, after spending the weekend reading up more, the GPU will bottleneck performance before the i7.

Oh absolutely, I reckon it would even be a bottleneck before the i5...

Until you get to something that will make use of four cores, less than graphics.

I'd still recommend the i7, worth it in the long run.

Thanks for posts guys,

The GIGABYTE Q1542N looks fantastic! Where would be a good place to buy laptops? online or at a shop?

Thanks again.

Buy it from these guys: http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=7318

Will cost R75+- for shipping. I haven't been able to find that laptop cheaper anywhere else.

Rebel Tech are a online store and they are located in Johannesburg, they will ship pretty much anywhere in South Africa given that you live in South Africa ofcourse.

@Nomnom

Thanks I will take a look at them

@juBa

Thank you for the find but I am not much of an HP fan, I had some trouble with a friends laptop awhile back and I haven't liked them much since.
