Hi all,

I need some help with my Netgear DG834G adsl Modem / Switch. I do not want use my router's PPPoE connection, but I want each of my 3 PC's to log on using a broadband connection (PPPoE). It seems like the PPP packets are being filtered by the router. Any ideas?

Yes It does im using this function at home it is broken in the v3 firmware though , you need to downgrade to 4.0.2.7 or some such - not at home atm but cant confirm - but check for threads started by myself and you will find a fix to your problems.

It is possible to set the DG834GT to bridge mode. Meaning you can create a PPPoE connection on your PC. What you need to do is google for the hidden pages. In one of the pages is a drop-down box where you can choose between router or bridge mode.

Please be aware that running in bridge mode on your PC siginificantly reduces your security. Use a firewall to mitigate most of these threats.

Take a quick look at this

Try....

By using the following link http://your routers ip/setup.cgi?next_file=mode.htm the DG834 will be turned into a modem. Should you wish to use the router functionality simply select router from the menu on the left.

Haven't done it myself so I have no clue if it works or not. :D
