So here I am again. I'm keen to start modding my Pc a little to make it look a little more pretty. There's 3 things that I'm looking at doing, one would be to pop a 120mm fan in the front where 3 open 5.25 bays currently are and get a better 140mm fan to replace the stock one in the front to push more air. Then I want to look at maybe getting some decent lighting nothing too fancy, just something decent. I was thinking of maybe getting my case a sort of camo or a really good paint job (I won't be doing it so will need to find someone talented to do it for me).

The Pc case I have is the following: http://www.cmstorm.com/en/products/chassis/scout/

What I have done with my cooling is, I have left all the stock fans (front, back, top) and I have simply added dust filters that I got from A1 radio to the side fan slots, I'm not too keen to use fans on the side what I want is fans in the front pulling air in and my fan at the back and top to push out. The lighting I'm not too sure about, cause I mean my case is black and the stock fans are red so maybe purple/blue? oh and I hear LED is in and the old tube lights are out? I want to somehow mount a 120mm or maybe even a 140mm fan in the 3 5.25 bays I have open can anyone recommend a easy and effective way of doing this?

I was also thinking of having the power cables of my PSU Sleeved to like a red or green, but I must first get a decent Corsair PSU first.

The reason I want to do these things is cause I recently found this: http://www.overclock.net/t/525009/official-the-coolermaster-storm-scout-club

And wow me likely problem is I'm not too clued up on Pc modding so if you have any pointers/recommendations I would be very grateful.

Oh just thought of another thing to do, change the plexi glass? side panel to a plain one., does anyone know where I can have plexi glass cut?

If you just want a fan in the 5.25 bays you can cable tie it there. I'll have to think a bit on it to figure out a way to do it if you want it to look nice.
No reason you cant use the tube lights, I do prefer LEDs though. The NZXT sleeved LED stuff is decent, and a fair bit cheaper than LED strips from PC retailers. If you can get proper LED strips though that would be great, however they might end up being too bright.
PSU wire sleeving is no joke, even just doing the 24 pin mobo + 8 pin CPU + GPU wires will take a good 25+ hours if done properly

Cool I think I'll take it slow and do one thing at a time and try to do it right, lets start with the mounting of a fan in the front of my case, my case has 5 5.25 bays, 2 are being used and I have 3 empty in which I would like to pop a fan there somehow, cable ties don't seem to be a bad idea, will take a look later today on that.

Here's an example of someone who went all out fans in the front: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4007/4231509928_b1aa8f0953_b.jpg

We can leave the PSU sleeving project till the future when I actually have decent PSU :D

EDIT: I can't find a place that has the NZXT LED stuff :(

I know Landmark has the NZXT LED stuff (linky). Havent looked if any other place has them. I'm looking to install mine properly this weekend so you'll have a good idea of the brightness, but it has 3 settings, so you should find a brightness that works for you. I remember now they also have sleeved extensions, only in black though, no multi colour stuff

PS - that guy didnt go all out fans ;) its a WC setup. So those fans are prob being held by a radiator, and in turn the rad is probably held in place by some modded bits and pieces.

Meh lucky bastard...thanks for the link....now I just got to figure out what colour LED's to get :/

EDIT: Can't go with red cause my fans are red, maybe blue or green....or orange hmmmm I can't decide choose a colour for me please, I will go for the 2m version then I got to figure out where to mount it.

EDIT: hmmm maybe blue isn't a good idea opposite of red ect, maybe green, or the orange..

Just completed one of the little projects that I wanted to do, it's a little crude but does the job, thanks for the cable tie suggestion Archer.

Zomg, look at that cable mess at the back  :p
Good job on the fan though :D

hi NomNom

Im also in the process of making case a bit more pleasing to the eye. I dont have the same case as you do, but Im also gonna redo a lot of the fans/wiring/lighting.

I got this for the wiring

and I also got a fan controller so I can hook all my fans up to that and not run them off the MB. I have VERY limited connections as its a microATX board.

Maybe I'll post some pics when Im done :)

lol yeah, and to think that this is the third time I've done the wires at the side of my case and this time I wanted to make it as neat as possible, unfortunately this wasn't the case lol (no pun intended) I'm not very good when it comes to cable management but I try my best. :)

I'm happy how the fan is performing I can really feel the airflow in the front, now what I want to do is sort out the lighting on this case.

Awesome I would appreciated that, thing is I need to have my PSU upgraded before I do the cable sleeving thing, but thanks for the link I will contact Prophecy in the future and ask them how about I can go with it. Just below my DVD-ROM I had a 3 way fan controller which came with 2 lights, I took it out today cause I decided to connect all my fans to my motherboard in an attempt to make it look neater.

Question I want to know from you guys, if I cable sleeve a Corsair PSU will the warranty become void?

Also what colour LED's do you guys think would go with my case? The whole case is black interior also, my motherboard is Asus so it's got blue heat sinks, the front and back fans have red LEDS. I was thinking maybe green or orange, if only NZXT made purple LED's then maybe that can be a choice also.

It would obviously have to go with any cable sleeving that I would do in the future so I should decide on what colour I'm going to do that too, I was thinking maybe green, what you guys think?

IIRC its only Thermaltake that doesnt mind you sleeving the wires. Thats why most people will only sleeve a fully modular power supply, since then you can kind of get away with it still by only sending the PSU in, or getting replacement wires before sending it in.

Hmmm how are Thermaltake PSU's in general? any good? or I'll have to fork out more than I expected for a modular PSU.

Incorrect, sleeving that PSU will void the warranty. Corsairs stand point I now remember is - modular cables you can sleeve, but anything that is hard wired into the PSU you cant touch

Yeah just got confirmation from an admin, so that guy was wrong, owell :(

I also stuck a fan there below the DVD drive. Although mine is just jammed in place on my CM690, no cable ties.

Get a corsair AX PSU (I have 2 and they are beautiful).
That way you can sleeve without voiding your warranty.

When it comes to the sleeving, i can assist you, but you being in durbs is a bit far

I'm thinking of getting myself a Corsair AX650: http://rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=39_86&products_id=8219

How much better would it be over the Coolermaster Extreme Power Plus 650w that I have right now? The main reason I want to get that PSU is so that I can cable sleeve it, so I need to know what to do on that also, I have emailed Rebel tech in the meanwhile.

Or should I rather save up for the AX750, thing is I have never crossfire'd and if I ever do so it will be with medium range cards since I've never owned a high end GPU. so I'm sure the 650 would be able to handle 2 6870's if I ever do it?

EDIT: after looking at the specs of the 750 I think I would rather go for it instead over the 650.
