Firstly is there any1 living in Dewetshof, observatory or Cyrildene (JHB) with sentech,if so how is the connection?

Secondly, can one download with Kazaa and Overnet or edonkey with sentech?

Lastly, how long would it take to download a 600mb file with the 128k package?

You can use any internet protocol with Sentech.

600meg with an optimal connection - i.e. running at top speed, would take 12 hours to download. In practice, your looking at about 18 hours.

I d/l'd suse 9.1 live eval (670meg) in about 22 hours total.

so downloading an mp3 off kazaa would be fine, and it would take minutes with 128k

it will take you 3 hours while you weed out the corrupted files. kazaa is dead anyway.

seriously, if you get sources, you can get a max of about 50MB an hour. do the math.

so then it doesnt matter if one uses a p2p file sharing program.sentech doesnt kick you off?i do use overnet and edonkey now

takes me 6-8 minutes to download 29 meg

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

But you pay handsomely for the privilege.

For the 128k prospectives..

in 6-8 min you get 5-7MB.

Remember that in theory and in perfect conditions 128kbps == MP3 128kbps so you *could* stream 128k mp3s but dont count on it. So if you are lucky, it will take under 10min per mp3.

Kazaa and other P2P programs are rather dead ends when you are using broadband services because of the other persons connection and that you are basically dependant on them for sending.

I have found some forums online which have direct or FTP links to files and I get really decent 20-60Kbps on any and all files making Downloads nicer and the Kazaa problem of worms and duds non-existant.
