Need new power adapter for router.

My routers power adapter is broken the output is 5V and 2,5A where can i buy a new one? in and around johannesburg please help. It's a d-link router.
I have looked everywhere but I can not seem to find one.

Do you still have the original connector? If so, buy anything that gives out 5V, 2.5A max and solder on the original connector. Should be able to find something like that at electrical hobby stores, or some hardware stores like Brights

Here in Boksburg there is a place called GT electronics, they sell it, so does the flea market, but yes most electrical hobby stores etc should have it. I have also seen the multi-switching ones at game etc before but they are quite expensive.
 
The D-link DUB-104 4port USB 2.0 hub comes with a 5v 2.5A power adaptor @ +/- R150. I've bought these in the past to replace the 5V 2.0A units that the DWL-2100WAPs have a habit of frying.

The USB hub is still usable for most devices without the power adaptor.

Well i did find a few with 5v but none that has 2,5A aswell:(

Meh that doesn't help then, higher would have been fine, I stand under correction that if an electrical product is rated for example 12V DC 3 Amps, you could use any 12V DC 3 Amp's and plus power supply. The amperage doesn't matter, provided it is enough, but going over won't do any harm.

Far as I know those are unregulated. The output voltage can vary widely (eg: those cheap types sold at game, the multi-select unregulated type, usually at 12volt they provide around 18volt and 5v would be around 10v).

The original @ 2.5A, would surely be a regulated PSU. You can get one at Electronics123, Communica or RS electronics

I would recommend using either Communica or RS Electronics. Electronics123 are a serious rip off.

Communica would probably be the cheapest but they are located in Midrand. I've bought some of those regulated PSU before, they are really good quality SMPS. Anyway they are right next to Esquire, same street, just 4 places over.
