I need anyone to help me with Ritalin, I am really struggling with school work. Being in the village everyone saying I am too lazy to do work not knowing that I am suffering and my parents can't afford psychiatric and psychologist as they dont come any cheap. Is there any one who can help?

You get psychologists and psychiatrists in public hospitals too. Of course a gp can prescribe it without evaluation which is irresponsible.

You don't need that crap , for decades we all survived without it , pull up your pants and just make it happen

I sure as heck wish I was diagnosed correctly when in school as opposed to being in my twenties. Even now it works great when at work.

OP surely you can see a gp? They are not as expensive as specialists and prescribe accordingly. If cost is an issue start off with methylphenidate. If it helps then dr is on the right track.

Werner, do you suffer from mental health yourself, or are you just talking from your *******?
I am sorry , I forgot these days when life gets hard , there is a pill for everything. Big Pharma made sure of that.
When I was at school ADHD was not invented , wonder how we all coped those days ?

Maybe everyone who might have done help with pharma help just got left behind.

I've never taken this stuff so this is not me advocating for drugs.

Suffering from/with what?

Correct. Many fell out due to it. There are certainly folks who need it but you should really be diagnosed by a competent person, it's a very over prescribed medication.

Also, class sizes were a lot smaller in the old days, that attention to kids makes a huge differance, even with medication.

Well, judging by what an empathy-deprived moron you are, I'd say not too well, wouldn't you?

Please don't assume Ritalin/methylphenidate is going to be a miracle cure for anything. That being said, if it will help, it WILL HELP.

As others have mentioned - Best bet is to see a professional, but if this is not economically feasible, it can be prescribed from a GP (generic methylphenidate is ~R140 for 30x10mg tabs). My advice is first and foremost, see a specialist. Understandably, if that's not an option, chat to a GP. However, and this is a big however, don't assume the initial euphoria is part of the package (it's not); start chasing that, and you are lost.

If it's going to help your work in the way you hope, the only way is to try. It is tightly scheduled for a reason though, don't lose sight of that, and it's entirely possible a GP is going to give you a hard no to begin with.

Did you ever used these?

A bit of truth. Back then, we were labelled as "bored", "day-dreamers" or "hyperactive". And if we showed any symptoms, it was a short trip to the head master's office. Now, they just misdiagnose most children, and give them a pill. And they have clients for life.

Yes, I do believe that ADD and ADHD are real disorders, I just don't believe everyone who's been put on Ritalin actually has one of them. And taking it without either of them does way more damage long term, too (I was in college with a guy who used to get it from his dad's pharmacy for the high).

@OP: it's best to go speak to a psychiatrist, even if it's at a government hospital. This isn't a road you want to go down without the proper advice, and I doubt anyone here is qualified to make that call for you.

Ritalin is so old school. Get some THC

Thank you for your advice

I managed to talk my GP into given me ritalin, didn't help at all with my productivity. Sure it made my mind calmer but it made listening to music empty and depressing and made me too mellow to actually be motivated to do anything.

Neucon user clocking in here. I can confirm that it has helped me so much. Even my wife can tell when I've taken it.

So, let me give an example of what it does for me:- I go to make coffee and put the kettle on. Then I get milk from the fridge. When I open the fridge I see the water dispenser is empty so I go to get a glass to fill it. When I get to the sink I find that the dishes are dirty and haven't been loaded into the dishwasher so I start loading the dishwasher. I need a dish towel to empty the dishwasher and there aren't any so I go to the cupboard to get a dish towel, I can't find a dish towel so I go look for one.....and on and on it goes.

When I take Neucon, I just make the coffee and it helps me concentrate on the task at hand. I can't believe what a huge difference it makes in my life. I am 39 and I have only just started taking it. I wish I had started earlier when I was battling at school.
