Need some advice! Audi TT or SLK

I agree to your bang-for-your-buck approach and that is why I bought the Corsa and not a Polo, it offered a lot more. To be honest the only car that would have been a better deal is an i20 1.6 - which brings me to my second point. I still see a car as an extension of your personality and the i20 personality just was not quiet me. A light blue (baby blue/gay blue) Corsa is.

VAG = no personality, no class, Sheeple's Cars. So while I don't doubt you have an excellent deal with your Audi you do not have class or personality.

Wow, no shades of grey for you then? You've made a character judgement purely based on the car I drive despite my insistence that my choice is based on research/requirements rather than a need to follow the popular choice. I do apologize that I wasn't able to put aside my needs in order to "go against the grain" just for the sake of it.

Please assist me in what you think I should have bought instead of my 07 Audi A4 DTM?

P.S. You should have bought the i20. Having driven it and the Corsa it would certainly have been the smarter choice being more powerful, better looking, more practical and built better than the Opel. The Polo on the other hand is a terrible choice no matter which angle you look at it from. As for your extension of personality argument, buying a Corsa (a car that the masses buy in volumes only second to the VW equivalent) is hardly a case for excluding you from the "sheeple" description.

I know a lot of people who own VW's and are nothing like what you say. I do however, know a lot of people like you, I'd rather not say what we call you though.

Yes, and with that being a matter of life and death I am so sad about it :-(
Let's keep the infantile retorts to a minimum shall we? You're well known around this section for being painfully disruptive when it comes to conversations around car choices (esp. when a VAG product is mentioned) so don't expect to find yourself without a label as a result. Obviously there is some lack of maturity on your part when it comes to justifying your own preferences versus allowing others theirs so rather just keep your "useful" comments like "VAG is gay" to yourself and let the big kids talk, mkay?

Btw, I'm still waiting for a response to my invitation that you suggest what I should have bought instead of the Audi.

Why not just keep it on the level where it is bound to end up because no matter how good an alternative I can come up with you will find something or the other to justify buying a VAG and then we are back to square one.

As I said before there is nothing wrong going with the back for your buck approach. You clearly do not care about possible labels people will then give you and nor should you, after all, you wanted back for your buck and you got it.

It's a car, not a fashion accessory. People who judge and label others based on their car only highlights how materialistic they are themselves.

Nobody looks at an Opel/GM and thinks "wow, that guy's got style and class for not choosing another brand". They look at it and see, you guessed it, a car.

I've owned 4x GM models (all Opels) and as well as 2x Japanese brands. This Audi is my first VAG product and yet you feel that I'm now predisposed to supporting ALL VAG models? Like I said above I will go with whatever brand meets my needs the best.

By "bang-for-buck" I meant that it meets most of my needs all at once, i.e. performance, practicality, price and appearance. The A4 DTM checked all of those boxes for me in a way that nothing else could. Feel free to suggest otherwise and I'll gladly listen as my lack of brand hysteria allows to do so.

Iwojima, despite what has been said before I completely agree with you. The car does exactly what you wanted from a car so its end of story.

Just keep in mind that some people put image, perception and other fuzzy subjective things before performance and they might have an entirely different view of your car and indeed you being the driver of it. This should not bother you because to you the car satisfies an totally different set of requirements.

Why should anybody care about what others think? You buy a car because it meets your requirements, and your priorities are all wrong if you buy it based on what others may think.

Great, now that I've got that admission out of you please consider your own recommendation before you pass any more snide comments about other brands. Allow the rest of us on the forum to make and discuss our own choices based on our own needs without your constant chiming in about how "gay" or "classless" a brand is.

I cannot answer that for you in a factual and concise manner because consumerism, product psychology and fashion are topics I know very little about. That does not mean I decline to acknowledge their existence.

People buy all sorts of things and often for the most obscure reasons. Think of art for example, and to most cars are a form of art. You get to a point where a question of need is a question of taste. I'm not asking you to do that or agree with it, but you should at least come to terms with the reality of it.

With that being said taste does differ and this very post is about that. There is no right or wrong here and I am sure both the TT and SLK are brilliant cars, but they appeal to people with different tastes in cars.

I really fail to see why I should do that when the very reason behind this thread was to give opinions on these two cars. You also cannot say it is imbalanced or taken out of proportion because the Audi did get a whole lot of thumbs up and praise from others. Don't single me out just because I have a strong opinion on it and we do not see eye to eye on the matter.

I singled you out because your posts about one option being "gay" and "classless" are not opinions nor an attempt to give valid reasons for alternative choices. You've done nothing but further demonstrate your bias by pulling the piss out of a brand you love to hate. You are very well known for doing so in this section so please don't make it out as if you've actually contributed to this topic at all.

...for the record, given only the choice of the two I would probably take the SLK as I'm not a fan of the TT (except for the TT-RS).
