Need some advice on purchasing a BMW

I've met some people for whom the novelty never wears off, in terms of expenses petrol isn't right up there with really expensive hobbies, or the company pays petrol so you might as well use it for all its got etc.

And those are the exact same people who are attracted to M badges, same as the kind of person that puts an M badge on their non M BMW, driving fast and hard is part of the package.

Granted its not a hard and fast rule but it makes sense that a person buying a M badged vehicle has the desire to be perceived as a racer of sorts, that's the whole point...

OK I must admit I just got back from a hard and fast drive but I have the absolute best possible excuse.

So I went to go fill up my car and I get over the bridge and see this massive flame to my left, it must have been about 3/4 meters. It was in this unkept field next to some sports fields. I know the area and know that there is a fire station a little bit down the road. So I go to the fire station to tell them what's going on. There are a few fields in that area and did not know the names so I told the guy my cars outside just follow me. So off we went with the fire truck blaring behind me. It was AWESOME!!!!!!!

Stay away from the 1.0 ecoboosts. I know of 3 of them in my group of acquaintances that had motor replacements. One is on its 3rd motor and ford don't want to honour the warranty.
 
The older Gen VW/Audi 1.4tsi/ DSG had DSG problems from the get go. My dads MK V Jetta ate a clutch pack before 60k km. VW put this down to driving in traffic and not engaging sport mode to hold the gear changes longer. After the replacement they showed us the service bulletin saying they should instruct customers to switch to sport in traffic. Mechatronic unit was also on the way out with shakey clutch engagement and hard changes but traded in for a Jetta 6 which has a revised DSG/clutch pack and is doing ok, but I'm not holding my breath. The 2.0L/DSG combo seems to work pretty well unless you do some really spirited driving then the Mecha unit karks. Although I only know of one such incident in my circle and that guy had done a few track days.
