Trace complete.

What concerns me is the first 5 steps.
Why do I get results in the 172 range? I do not have devices in that range on my network.
Any explanation would be appreciated.

I doubt 3-5 are on your network, it should be external.

Weird.

The 172 isn't in your network...the ping is too high. But its also too low to be an international address. So either its a legit TM thing or its a local crook messing with you.

I'm puzzled by the second 192.168 address though...didn't think that was possible.

The 172 range is also a private block like 192.x.x.x so it cant be on the open internet. It is possibly on the TM network, but how on earth would the ping be so high? If it is on the TM network I would bet half my problems are with that hop.

It is possibly on the TM network
Its definitely on the TM network...or at least beyond your walls.

but how on earth would the ping be so high?
Its 3G/HSDPA/LTE...latency blows on wireless solutions. Thats why all the gamers are on ADSL.

Also...you might want to include some actual info in future posts....you speak of local devices, 3g etc and don't even mention cell company (TM)...or...well anything really beyond a trace.

Thanks for the help. Some general info.
This is a Telkom mobile connection.
Modem is plugged into a Asus RT-N13U Rev.B1
I am using a Poynting antenna.

My ping used to be relatively good. 270 to eu WoW servers and mostly dead stable. But the last few days things went to hell. Trying to find the problem lead me to the suspicious trace.

After some more digging I found other examples like the one ashfaak linked that would indicate this to be normal, but it is the first time I found a trace like this.

Thanks for the help.
