Hi Guys

I need to choose a new ISP by the end of today.
10meg uncapped ADSL - home use
I am moving from Afrihost who have failed me.

Does anyone have any advice for me on which ISP to choose please?
I use the internet for downloads, online gaming and streaming.
If I can consistently get 500kbps to 600kbps speeds I will be happy but at the moment I am getting 10kbps while paying R800 for this service :wtf:

PS. I see many shills when doing research on this topic.

Have you given Vox telecoms a call? I tested multiple ISP'S and vox stands out. Downloaded between 10-15G a night on a 2Mb connection.

You know what, I am actually considering Vox...their prices seem to be 50% cheaper than all the other ISP's, is this normal? I am wondering what the catch is?
Also does activation happen instantly after I insert username and password details into my router?

Vox bud, cant go wrong.
awesome.
i use there capped account and there R59 topup that allows unshaped, uncapped, unthrottled connection from 6pm to 6am (basically when u back home from work)

there capped account will obviously also be unshaped etc

I'm using the 300Gb & 900Gb After Hours capped account from WebAfrica.
Also on a 10Mbps ADSL connection.
I can use up the 300Gb easy enough, but I'm struggling to use the 900Gb After hours.
Even though I have it set to DL, it can barely get through 300GB in the month.
Some nights it will DL about 12 Gigs, some nights only 2 or 3.

agree with Chev, that package is a good option, esp if your into streaming/gameing

axxess, have problems atm but when they work, P2P works alot better than WA,even on the higher business package, not sure how it will go with axxess from today as they gotten a new AUP/FUP for business uncap
last month i did around 130gb in two days with axxess (b4 IPC issues started again)

anyways,if your from capetown, stay away from MTN dont even think about it,just to much ipc issues here

Also proudly Afrihost free from 12am this morning.

Just gave Vox a shout, and they are offering me 25gig anytime data and the uncapped bolt on for R148.

I am giving it a bash this month.

Which option did you go with? will they transfer/manage your DSL line back to Telkom or to vox automatically? or do you have to do it manually?

my line is with telkom, best to keep your line with telkom
and i got the 25gb+bolt on

this is what the CP says, maby its just there fatpipe thats totally unsharped?

Status Active
Bandwidth Type Shaped
Base Cap 25 GB
Additional Cap 0 GB
Product Type Generic ADSL
Bolt-on Products Uncapped Bolt-on

if u make a account, there is a option that ask if u want your line with telkom/vox

but remember there will be around a 10day downtime

so if your lines with telkom just keep it there

Thank you very much, this is very helpful...I use to think the ISP would manage the line better but I will take your word for it and move it from Afrihost to Telkom.

well u can keep it at afrihost as they have a line management tool where u can do a port reset etc,and just pay the the X amount exstra
but moveing you line from telkom to a ISP,not worth the hassle

onlything is they will handle telkom for you,so u dont have to hold for hours ,but rather do that yourslef its faster and u can be sure telkom was phoned and its "fixed"
