Hi all

I'm getting an Elite shipped to me soon. I want to transfer my Live account and other content from my Premium to the new Elite. How do I do this? A transfer cable and software of some sort ...

Your help will be much appreciated. And once I have the Elite, my 8 month old Premium will be up for sale ;)

Cheers

you only get a transfer cable if you buy the 120gig drive seperately, and it only works once to transfer data from your old drive to the new one. alternatively there is software called xplorer 360 (or sumthing like that0 which reads xfat (360 hdd's) but the problem is you need another special cable for that. I can mail you the xfat software but the cable you gonna need to buy from abroad.
or buy a new 120 gig drive then u get the MS use once transfer cable with it. if its arcade games you want to copy, copy it to a 360 memory card, you can always retrieve your gamercard from xbox live on the new console.

well thats for the licenses, the content on the disk is another story

Despite some reports (mainly from Microsoft or at least the lack of information), you can use a memory card to transfer your profile and everything over to your new system. The transfer cables are very hard to get hold of. Memory card all the way :)

Okay. Don't have a memory card though!

Will buy one when I see a cheap deal. Buying an Elite chows the finances :(

I luckily haven't downloaded XBL arcade games. Just videos, such as game trailers and so forth.

I'll give it a twirl when my new baby arrives :D

when doing it via memory card? does it do the licenses properly. ie, is the console auth'd for those games they were bought on it? or only the primary account?

If you just want your profile, then all you need to do is retrieve your profile on the new Xbox360. You will have all your achievements, etc. You can download any games that you bought and it will work again, because it's linked to your profile.

You can only use one unique profile per Xbox360, so once you've retrieved your profile onto the new Xbox360, you must delete your profile off the old Xbox360.

Ok. Sounds like the "hassle-free" method :D

But I want my game saves as well, not going to break my fingers just to get to the levels where I'm at right now.

Thank you for all the advice everyone ;)
