Hey Guys,

I have a huge problem with my Blackberry (torch 9800)! Whenever I use the actual Internet browser on my phone it uses my airtime instead of using the BIS - Facebook, BBM and UberSocial still use BIS instead of my actual Airtime. The only things that I have done to the settings of my phone is:

1) Upgrade to 6.0.0.600
2) I turn my 3G off to save power
3) I deleted Blackberry Internet Browser 2 (from my service books)

So I have no idea what the hell is going on but it is really irritating me! because I rely on my blackberry to surf the web everyday...

Do you know what the problem could be and what i could do to fix it?

Thanks So much for the help.

Take a look at the gateway that you use when you browse the web. Take a look under browser options -> Browser configuration.
On my BB for instance I have the option to use my blackberry browser or Vodafone Live. BB-Internet browser goes through BIS and was told that the VL-browser bypasses BIS on occasion. I have not yet noticed it, or at least the cost wasn't great enough to notice.

Which network are you on? The same thing started happening to me from last night. Im on Cell C

im on vodacom, thanks for the help froot will check that out right now!

okay so i figured out the problem (i think) it must of been service book 2 that i deleted that caused it to use my airtime instead if the BIS, but if i dont delete service book 2 i get very low/bad speeds of internet browsing X_X what i do - HELP

That service book does not do anything, it has no function. It does not affect downloads or speed or connect ability or weather or not u use BIS, its a redundant file that is left over from a glitch in a previous network update. Once teh glitch was fixed it stopped doing anything, deleting it has as much effect as standing on your head.

Hey Sky101.

Just to get the obvious out the way (I know you don't but it's just to clarify), you're not streaming, using any other browser except the default (just to be sure. Some say it doesn't incur additional data charges but Vodacom says it does) or tethering your phone. Do yourself a favour and phone your service provider (don't know if you're Vodacom, MTN, Cell C, 8-ta or Virgin). Tell them to put an 'inhibitor' on your phone to stop you incurring additional data charges. I have done this with Vodacom and it has worked since I did it.

Do you do any downloading with your phone? It shouldn't incur any additional data charges because many people download **** that's like up to 700MB and up and don't incur charges. Regardless though, there have been a select unlucky patrions, myself included, who seem to get charged for this.
