Negativity relating to the SWC

An extra R1bn spending just means another percentage of that money going to Malema et al. Why should they care.

Because that is the nature of large scale projects. Wembley cost double it's planned amout. Get this, Wembley has 92 000 seats, SC has about 90 000, Wembley took 6 years to rebuild, SC took 3, SC cost R3 billion, Wembley cost £1 billion, about R12 billion.

Bad project planning then? I don't think I'd even have a remote chance at a job in the private sector if I overspend even R5m.
The whole idea that after numerous SWC's where stadia had to be built, and still today no one seems to be able to properly plan and budget for construction..wtf? Methinks a lot of money got shifted under the table.

And you can't blame me for having the "corruption" thoughts. Not when you have SA politicians shaking one angry fist at corruption, whist greedily clenching a another fits full of dodgy money.

Yip, here they go. They are at it in this thread again. The same idiots who were saying the stadiums would not be ready (they are!). The same idiots who were encouraging tourists to stay away. Now they just change their tack and raise a new argument....

Your type is so keen for the rest of the world to see how terrible this country is so you should be welcoming them here to see it for themselves. Or are you petrified that those that come may actually love what they see and your years of convincing yourself that leaving is a great idea would be down the drain?

Why improve the Durban beach front? Why clean the streets? Surely the money taken to do this could be better used in housing people? Everything is linked!

Ask those people in the shacks, that you appear so concerned about all of a sudden, how they feel about the world cup coming to Africa. I'm sure you will find the majority are excited.

They are obviously just being altruistic... they wouldn't mind all that infrastructure were diverted to building houses for the poor, they don't mind driving down a pot-holed road as long another poor person has a proper roof over their head.

Dude, big projects run over cost all the time, whether public or private, that's just what happens. It's hard to plan for cost increases on a 3 year plan, let alone other delays and who knows what else.

...and in the next thread the moaners are complaining about the shocking state of our airports and the useless public transport we have.... you really cannot please them.

I am quite impressed how all of a sudden they are all so concerned about housing the previously disadvantaged though. Which is rather strange as I am sure I have heard moans about tax money being used on people it was felt were undeserving of it.... as stated the government really can't win!

They are the ones living in shacks and the ones who voted these idiots into power,

The Cape metro rail is bank, due to the WC, service delivery fails because there in no more money, Due to the WC, SABC are BANK, due to the WC. Shack dwellers will .... well still dwell in shacks becuase of the WC. Some up there are reaping the benefits, new cars, etc, but not those that need it, due to the WC.

I Hope some will be here supporting the ANC and the mess to follow while paying higher taxes and extra new "plans" (taxes) to fund and make up for the extra costs required to sustain their current living conditions and corruption.
 
Ahh, so we are saying that all this country's "problems" are actually caused by the soccer world cup! And all this time I thought you guys were blaming the ANC!
