Nene admits Gupta errors, begs for forgiveness

Zuma has apologised for:
- SASSA
- Nkandla
- Impregnating Khoza's daughter

None of them sincere though, and the last very grudgingly forced on him by others.

Durban - EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu says the party is willing to accept Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene’s apology for lying about his interactions with the Gupta family - on condition he resigns.
Shivambu told more than 800 delegates at the party’s second KwaZulu-Natal Provincial People’s Assembly in Pietermaritzburg that Nene visited Ajay Gupta more than six times at the family’s Saxonwold compound, proving he was friends with the Guptas.

He said the man at the helm of the National Treasury should disclose all the dealings he had with the “Gupta criminal syndicate”.

Correction, he apologized for any "confusion caused around Nkandla", as if that is what upset people, he has not expressed a nano-second of remorse for stealing the millions for NKandla, only for the "confusion caused".

I remember it clearly as I was sitting in front of the TV waiting on zumatello's late night national address with a fine whiskey in hand, wondering to myself "could this really be happening? there is hope after all? the POS will step down?" ... boy did I need that whiskey afterwards, it was the very last time I thought, even for a second, that the ANC is capable of correcting some of their biggest blunders.

why did he not disclose the encounters. could the high count of political killings have something to do with it.

did they make him spend money with the intent to implicate him

Probably threatened to release dirt on him or kill him/rekatives. It sounds like Ajay has "mobster tendencies" if you read between the lines.

No one forced him to meet with them though. The political killings are unrelated to this. No one too important has ever been killed in those. They killed each other for access to the public sense at the lower levels. The only person in national ever shot was that MP in Jhb a while back

how do you know that.

i see he lied about meeting them, surely about something they dont want people to know about. underhanded dealings. so did he deny the nuclear deal to save himself from career suicide, then they turned to ol' des ..lol

I remember that night. It was April 1st. Was hoping that Zuma was going to announce his resignation but instead he played us for fools.

Was sitting At Luca’s in sunninghill and I remember the wait staff getting a bit irritated with us for our excitement at the prospect of Zuma leaving.

But he leaves Badakiwe and Gigaba? Suppose Nene doesn't have any support unlike those two. That's if the rumours are true.

Not confirmed yet. This comrade is in Zuma faction thus, could just be one of their many schemes to protect a Gupta acolyte.
 
Good point made by Stephen Grootes...who is leaking this information to Julius and to what purpose? Notice the EFF aren't calling for the heads of other ministers involved with the Guptas. Is it because Nene might investigate Julius and his relationship with the tobacco smuggler...

There are several other important questions that arise from this entire situation. The first is how did Julius Malema and the EFF know about all of this? Where are they getting their information from, and what is their agenda? It would surely be logical to presume that those who leaked this to the EFF want to weaken Ramaphosa, and essentially cause disruption. This could mean that whoever it is has the same agenda as Zuma. And they are clearly very well-informed.
