Any hope? Salesmen at Neotel said you have 3 months to change your speed.Ordered Friday 16th, installed on Thursday 22nd (could've been sooner but earlier didn't suit me)
I ordered the 6Mbps connection but after installed found it capped at 1Mbps... Called them and asked what's up, got some sad story about my connection not 'being live yet' and 'it will sort itself out' and even got a reference number et al.
Friday still 1Mbps, called again and this time was told my account says 1Mbps package - was transferred to the sales department where it was fobbed off as a 'misunderstanding' and I will be migrated to 6Mbps - give it 24 hours i was told.
Saturday I tested and lo and behold, still 1Mbps, called again and was told "no you are still on the 1Mbps package" apparently no migration, nor any migration request. Also the person helping me on Saturday couldn't do anything for me since only the salesman that initiated your account can effect changes (and of course that person would not be working on Saturday) - God forbids your salesman ever goes on leave or worse, leave the company....you'd be screwed forever.
The person on Saturday was quite courteous though and mentioned to me that clearly the salesman who told me I will be migrated and it will take 24 hours lied to me....(have to love the frankness). The only help he could offer me on Saturday was to accept my request that they please come on Monday and remove all the equipment (I once again got a reference number).
Not holding my breath that will happen either.
Perhaps others have more luck but frankly life is too short to deal with bad service like this, very responsive when selling, but the moment you signed that order form it's impossible to get hold of anyone or get anything done / changes. Buyer beware
Ps. On the 1Mbps connection, latency is pretty much on par with (or slightly worse) than both 8ta 3G and Cell C 3G - average between 45ms and 70ms ping times on speed test. pingtest.com results is pretty poor, line quality was C or D, high latency and a lot of jitter. Definitely not good for VOIP et al and suspect it wouldn't be that great for streaming video either (couldn't exactly test that at 1Mbps)

Wow, is it always at a higher speed than what you officially have?
Not a gamers line heavy pibgs
Was a bit weird to cellc's test server. Intl and local latencies are usually indistinguishable
So do you have the consumer Wimax offering, or the business one? I'm impressed, I must say.
Do you notice any decrease in speed in the evenings (when everybody's home)?
All approved and in order, coming on Monday for the installation.
Cool! 2 year contract? Which speed did you take?
Let us know how it performs!
Bad news, can't pick up LOSAny other ideas for the Lonehill area?
That sucks!
Somebody suggested Amobia?
But don't they need LOS also?
