I was wondering, what kind of download speeds are you experiencing when using the NeoConnect Lite product :erm:

Do yourself a favour and stay far away from Neotel services, until they get their act together. The internet/wireless service is pathetic, customer support is somewhere between non-existant and miniscule, and their monitoring/billing/administration systems are really crappy.

Get ADSL if you can. Get your line and ADSL access from Telkom. But choose your own ISP. Afrihost is one ISP I recommend to everybody. Make sure you don't sign any contracts, and do everything on a month to month subscription. Ask for more assistance in the ADSL ISP forum, on ways to save money on installation costs, and setup fees.

If ADSL isn't an option, you might want to try iBurst, they've recently dropped prices considerably, and offer a good value proposition. Otherwise try Telkom/Vodacom/MTN 3G/HSDPA. Telkom is running a special on its Do 3G services, with cheap modem orices.

Trust me, Neotel is a world of pain and frustration. Just read all the threads and complaints in the Neotel forum, and decide if that's what you want.

Until Neotel get their act together, the best thing to do is stay away from them, and warn others.

I thought my response was on-topic - warning the user not to go with Neotel, since you don't get the service you are paying for, which is either unstable, crappy, or non-existant, in which case, actual speeds don't even matter.

I don't think presenting better alternatives is off-topic either.

http downloads and torrents average 17kB

Had huge issues over the last few weeks/months but has been 100% for the last couple of days, weather permitting, *touch wood*

Using External Antenna

I'm also using an external antenna - Have never got above 16K/s - and the line disconnects about between 20 and 30 times a day. The sales trick here is that the device is capable of handling 165K per seconds, but I've never in the time I'm on the neotel connect lite 469, got more than 16K/s, In the mornings between 09h00 and 12h00 I'm only getting between 8 and 9k/s

You left out the part where you insult an employee of Neotel & act like a total chop on the forums...:wtf: I really think you should be making your comments somewhere else ...

Thanks for that ;). My current Download transfer speeds are 15kB/s but can go upto 18kB/s:erm:. I just wanted to find out what others are experiencing with their Lite unlimited package cause a techie from Neotel phoned me to let me know that the Lite unlimited will never go higher even if you boost your signal . I don't have an external antenna.

Your warning is to the wrong person as I am well aware of Neotel and their service offerrings. I'm fairly ok with what I get even though it slow. I prefer uncapped/unlimited access as I do not want to watch my usage limit.
