NeoConnect pricing details

eh? u willing to pay more (1300) for less speed? (384kbps) vs R1000 for 2.4mbps?

*sigh* I said i'm paying R1300 for 384k and Neotel offers 2.4mbs for R999. - Obviously neotel is better *g*

This concept seems to be confusing a lot of ppl

Yes, but expect "fees" and paying more for the hardware if you go 24 month contract and cancel. Now if you'd kindly point me to the the Month to month rates (which should be cheaper right?) and also the cost buying the hardware independently please?

Now that I do not appreciate (the sweetcakes reference). Try to be a little less condescending.

You said it was the cheapest broadband option, I pointed out that it wasn't. (I also pointed out that it might be the best value for money, as there is a huge difference between the two concepts). Try to keep in mind that not everyone has the same requirements as you.

; ) i believe there's medication for your sourness!, i was merely trying to show you the light dahling butterfly!

:D

If you want to stay with telkom - its entirely your problem hun!

Well, they have said that they're gonna have a fiber offering in the near future so at least they know that copper is old school crap.

Those prices look OK, not the best but for a first time offering it's good.

Such a hard choice...

I need to get connected, and soon. And I have been pushing in a little longer to wait for Neotel. I still can't make up my mind due to the following reasons:
With lots of restraint my minimum usage a month scrapes in just above 2GB, If I could be reckless, and this is basic usage, downloading the quick app here and watching the odd video there, it would roughly be 3 times that I am sure. So what to choose? Because I want to be free, to skype, to download something I need now, and to remote desktop to client locations.

I am tempted to get the uncapped for 500 offer, but will I be able to skype to the uk comfortably? And remote desktop locally? I am just so cautious with wireless, especially at such low speeds. The reason the uncapped would be nice is for torrents during sleepytime and worktime. Last month it was holiday at a main client, so I could go wild on the internet. 50Gb in 2 weeks, so I could use a uncapped connection very well.

The other thing that makes me a bit cautious is the device...A device I can only use on Neotel. What if I wanna quit? R80/month is quite a punishment if I cannot do squat with the device later...Say I can use it for Skype, that might be slightly redeeming, but the Eee-pc I am using now's skype is flawless without any mic's or earphones, so even the handset uses might be useless.

So I might have to build up a server for this thing if I want to go wireless...that sucks! I am very mobile in my internet needs, so would need laptop/tytn2(if I get it) and my pc with a wireless card to always be on, wherever I use it...

*sigh*

And by Pretoria them covering a meager two areas? I was seriously expecting more. So I should go all heroin and move to Sunnyside (apologies to those who live there and aren’t like that, but all I know who live there are heroin addicts) to get Neotel now. Least I would have expected was that the richer subs get covered.

It is not an easy choice I tell ya...

Why do you need slow uncapped may I ask?
max you can do a day on 384k is 3 gigs somthing to lazy to do the exact maths.
let say you average 2 gigs a day
2gig times 30 = 60 gigs
you stillget more value for your money

Well considering they said the rental of the modem on Prime is R80 p/m ... take the subscription fee less R80 p/m and that is your rate.

But it is pointless to pay month - month and buy the modem ... its exactly the same as taking the contract ... either way if you cancel ... you still ended up paying for the price of the modem ... I spoke to the Neotel rep when he phoned ... there is no extra fee to cancel ... you just pay for the remaining months of the modem ... so if you used neotel price for 1 year and want to cancel ... you just pay for the current month and the price of the modem for the remaining months i.e. 80x12

Its still a bit expensive though. I was hoping something in the R600-R700 range. Its a bit expensive. I really want uncapped internet but R999 is a bit outa my price range and 2.4mb isin't even that fast. I think I will rather just go to USA where broadband is half that price and speeds is triple that of neotel and telkom! I must admit that its much cheaper than the 384kbs IS uncapped so that is a plus point. Just not very reachable for the avarage guy earning a avarage sallary! :(

The R1300 you are paying for 384k is not uncapped?

let me make myself VERY clear because i'm saying this for the last time

I currently have
Openweb 384k uncapped. I'm paying them R999 and Telkom R300 = R1300

Neotel offers Uncapped 2.4m for R999 all inclusive.

IT IS A DAMN LOT BETTER THAN WHAT I HAVE NOW

*g* :D

Openweb or any IS uncapped reseller cannot compete with Neotel.

kapish???

So you do have slow uncapped? Why the agro man?

So, for you, this Neotel offering is good. But you are right at the top end of residential internet usage, which, it seems has been the main focus of these initial offerings, sadly.

i'm glad you finally get it! Frak!

i'm not being agro - i'm re- explaining myself over and over here - its tiresome!

So am I.

You are in a very small minority of people who will benefit from these packages so you, and a lot of others, need to chillax and realise that there will be a lot of 'moaning' from the lower-end users as these packages simply do not suit them.

I hope there is a cap at some point on the 'unlimited' package which will stop those people who are calculating they can download 200GB+ a month from doing so. The very same people on this forum who bitch the loudest are those who, by downloading asmuchaspossible, ensure that the vast majority of users pay more for the services.

Uhm not to burst your bubble but isini't uncapped internet uncapped. I mean If you get stopped its not really uncapped. I want to use 500GB of internet a month. Its uncapped whats wrong with it? If they offer uncapped then surely their server should be able to handle it?

No, we should all not download anything at all from the internet. Ever. 3GB is already far tooo much!

Ok firstly, anyone that thinks this is Telkoms competition is an idiot.

This is not a dsl/adsl/broadband offering. This is wireless, so in that case the only competition for these prices, are people such as Vodacom and Iburst.

Wait for neotells broadband offerings.

As far as I know, its not wireless as in you can take it anywhere. you are limited to your area.
