So my company is relocating to new premises.

I got tasked with finding alternatives to Telkom.

Who is on Neotel Business, and what is the QoS like?

We need lines for our switchboard as well as for Internet access.

Regards

Libs

We have a Fiber connection from them.
the installation was on time and completed without problems.
we have had the link for a bit over a year and have yet to experience any problems. our Link is a point to point link.

my only problem is that our account manager left without notifying me of our new account manager.

other than that im happy.

Can you PM me more details? Pricing, person to contact for installation etc.

Will appreciate it a lot.

Thanks

You can also call:
a) 0115850000 – select “new business enquiries” option
b) 0800 333 636 or 0800 000 636 – select “sales” option

I hope they treat their 'business' customers alot better than they treat their 'home' users.

I understand its a separate business.

Our one office is also dealing with Neotel for fibre lines. Telkom is too unreliable. Options are even to split up our branch and relocate our callcenter closer to the hosting facility - thats how bad it is.

Well, if Telkom is unreliable then multiply that with an integer value of your choice and then you will get an idea how your NoTel connections will be.

My suggestion is to first get hold of anybody with a router/modem and first test the voice and data in your area. Keep in mind that if your QOS looks just below your expected result that adding an antenna will improve the signal but will not guarantee better service.

Hopefully NoTel is alot better on fixed fiber lines than RF.

NeoTel Enterprise solutions are insanely much better than consumer services. Consumer services (and -some- entry level business services) are based on wireless last mile access. Neotel's crapiness comes with the wireless part of the business.

We too, have a PRI and a 6mbit data line from NeoTel for close to two years now. No serious issues what so ever, and when a issue arrise, it's sorted out mostly within a matter of 20 minutes from picking up the phone.

Please don't compare consumer services with business services. They are not even remotely the same.

I have a Neotel Fiber connection, Installation was done in 45Days from signing everything, only have 2 PRIs at the moment. waiting for other contracts to expire, then i can take out some data...

The thing i like the most about this company is you are given an account manager. Telkom business's face is 10217.....

Would recommend them to ALL enterprises,

- just one thing you might have to check, is if your PBX maintainence guys have Setup your Make/Model PBX on Neotel before, as there are a few things done differently compared to Telkom....

Sounds as if the business side is good.

I have sent them an email yesterday, still no reply. Wonder if that email went to the home section instead of the commercial section.... :erm:

Will phone them on Monday as it's a Friday today.

You are talking about Neotel consumer offerings here. The thread was about Neotel Business.

Is there a price list on Neotel's business offerings anywhere?

No, They tailor products for your business,

I called and enquired, and a meeting was set up by our now Account Manager, at our offices, we were given a short presentation on the products on offer, by that afternoon a quote was sent to us.

I guess they do it that way as to case out the business to see if it is worth their while?

Interesting to know. Thanks.

Sorry, yes, I see that now.

The strange thing was that I was looking at getting Neotel for my business and the sales guy suggested Flex as a business solution... which I then got. For him Lite and Prime was the consumer and Flex for SMEs. Now it is apparent that Flex is also only a toy and not really important to them.

NeoFlex
There’s nothing worse than waiting around. You have to do it often enough in banks and the grocery store, so don’t feel guilty for getting crabby when you have to wait to get online. With Neotel’s multi-user Internet service, NeoFlex Data, you’ll no longer have to wait for your turn to connect to the Net.

NeoFlex Data: A solution that presents a multi-user, high-speed, high-capacity data service and is best suited to small home offices, SMEs or high-data usage home users.

Oh, so SME is not seen as a business? So only when you start talking cable and fiber are we talking about business as wireless is not really suited. Next week we are starting up a new office in Centurion for which we need internet as well, but because less than 10 people is involved it probably cannot be seen as business. Now I would like to have fiber running to the new office. We certainly have the cashflow to cover it, but now I am not convinced it is the proper solution anymore.

Short and sweet rule of thumb. If it uses point to multipoint wireless for last mile connectivity, don't touch it.

Moralle of the story, only 2mbit/s and up services justifies the installation of fiber for NeoTel. So unless you require more than 2mbit/s of bandwidth, or a couple of PRI circuits, NeoTel is not the answer for you right now.

he's talking corporate, not consumer. no aerial/modem involved, it's all routers 'n switches using fibre
