Neotel coverage upsets consumer

IMO I feel Neotel has dropped the ball, to be honest...

They looked like they were gonna force Telkom to lower prices and improve service, but all they have done is show consumers Telkom is the better option.

All I have to say IS SIGH!

Serves them right. On the 10th of October last year they said they will have coverage in my area within no more than 3 months and they will call me back before then.

That would have been on the 10th of January... I am still waiting for the call...

Me too. Been waiting lots of months for coverage on the Lower East Rand.

neotel coverage

Neotel goes on about being the preferred alternative wah wah wah...
You can only be the alternative if you provide an alternative service. Neotel should be honest in their advertising by stipulating what they can and can't give, or consumers will just give up on them.

Hear hear ....

Dear Mr Swanepoel,

1. You are a complete idiot (we can't write what we'd like to).

2. We strongly recommend that you immediately stop using any products that do not have an appropriate disclaimer. ........

[Hasn't anyone realised yet that if we make enough stupid complaints like this, we won't have real competition for long? This is only going to make matters worse, not better. Neotel is just going to add more disclaimers, and refuse to offer a service to anyone who isn't prepared to swear that they will never complain about coverage. So much for asking them to lighten up on the coverage requirement. Whilst I agree that adverts should not be actively misleading, it's going way too far to kill off creativity and competitive positioning. As it is, companies in SA cannot use comparative advertising - it would be great if Neotel could use a real comparison with their competitors in ads, but they can't - so why try to stop what remains? If we stay on this path, the ads really are going to be shorter than the disclaimers. I think Neotel should sue Mr Swanepoel for loss of revenue while they record a new ad which is half disclaimers. For that matter, has no-one ever taken Telkom to the ASA for simply not providing what they claim at all?]

Neotel is supposed to be the second fixed line network. They have had their licence for something like 5 years already and have achieved nothing that affects the quality or service of telecoms in this country. All they are now is a cheaper alternative to iburst. (and who wants that)

At the rate they are going they might be viable for my children someday, but i do not see it at this moment.
