Neotel coverage upsets consumer

come on Newtel, why dont you just stop complaining and make your ervices available nationally

Why don't they make their offerings more affordable - or broaden their offerings?
When I compare Neotel's offerings against my current Internet and telephony account it does not make financial sense to change!

Neotel has arrived in the south african market with all the impact of a wet noodle! Their coverage is pathetic and slow. Their products are unexciting and weak. Their pricing is nothing to jump at. And their admin and customer service is shockingly poor. They are a massive disappointment! :(

Dear Mr Swanepoel,

1. You are a complete idiot (we can't write what we'd like to).

2. We strongly recommend that you immediately stop using any products that do not have an appropriate disclaimer. For example, please make sure that your microwave oven has a large sticker on it stating "Do not dry cat in microwave oven". Also, we suggest that you label all your coffee mugs with labels saying "Caution, hot." We suggest that you give up driving, since there are too many things that can hurt you in a motor vehicle. While you are about it, you may want to wrap yourself in cotton wool and lock yourself permanently in a cupboard, so that you can't ever be confused by the real world. Especially, do not listen to any adverts, particularly whilst driving, since it's clear that you have a very limited understanding of the world.

3. To address your problem comprehensively, why don't we just remove all the good adverts from radio, TV, billboards etc, and replace them with large disclaimers warning you what each product cannot do?

[Hasn't anyone realised yet that if we make enough stupid complaints like this, we won't have real competition for long? This is only going to make matters worse, not better. Neotel is just going to add more disclaimers, and refuse to offer a service to anyone who isn't prepared to swear that they will never complain about coverage. So much for asking them to lighten up on the coverage requirement. Whilst I agree that adverts should not be actively misleading, it's going way too far to kill off creativity and competitive positioning. As it is, companies in SA cannot use comparative advertising - it would be great if Neotel could use a real comparison with their competitors in ads, but they can't - so why try to stop what remains? If we stay on this path, the ads really are going to be shorter than the disclaimers. I think Neotel should sue Mr Swanepoel for loss of revenue while they record a new ad which is half disclaimers. For that matter, has no-one ever taken Telkom to the ASA for simply not providing what they claim at all?]

OK. So what's wrong with them?:sick::eek::rolleyes:

Compared to what? The coverage isn't great yet, but there are plenty of us inside it now. I'd like them to speed up rollout as well, but, objectively, it hasn't been particularly slow by industry standards. It also helps that they don't lie about coverage like everyone else.

Their pricing is nothing to jump at.

Half the price of anyone else for the same caps. 8c per MB out of bundle. Lowest voice prices. Network speeds as promised (in coverage). It would be nice to have some lower end products, but like for like, they are not that bad.

And their admin and customer service is shockingly poor.

They're not perfect, but they would have to get a lot worse by the sounds of it to plumb the depths of iBurst or Telkom, amongst others in this market.

Dear ads,

You are the bulletin board idiot.

If Neotel were anything to go by the prices would reflect their inferior service and lack of true broadband.

Telkom for one has more covergae and better speed, the same applies to MTN and Vodacom.

Have you checked the cost of dialling non Neotel numbers (which happen to be the bulk of numbers one call)?

Me thinks ads is a Neotel spokesperson (idiot)...

i think its more a shame that Neotel came into the market with all this Hype and a few years down the line, still hype ...

Understandable to roll out a nation wide network takes time ... but the Neotel boys need to rethink their strategy ... come Neotel we need some good serious competition in this Telecoms environment !!!

I like the way you think, theres always someone ey?:D

i still believe both Telkom and Neotel's true colours will come out after seacom lands. Of course LLU would be the cherry on top!

Yes they do lie... I had coverage last week (on their online coverage map and when speaking to the first consultant) and applied for the Neoflex package. Now I suddenly don't have any coverage anymore (on coverage map or on their system).

Serves them right. On the 10th of October last year they said they will have coverage in my area within no more than 3 months and they will call me back before then.

That would have been on the 10th of January... I am still waiting for the call...
