Neotel denies financial problems

Maybe they should stop putting out so many ads and start getting their network together.

Yeah, adverts bring new people in, but as the years go by, everyone starts to know the truth, and it won't matter how many ads they put out people will know to stay away.

Iburst is also guilty of this.

On the other hand, you get ISP's that use no advertising, who actually work on the network, or give good prices ala Afrihost - This generates word of mouth - FREE ADVERTISING.

So, do you spend the money on Advertising, "Luring in" users, or use the money to provide a better network / better prices, and get free advertising anyway?

Neotel and iburst have a sucky network, but a lot of advertising - In the end both ISP's suck.
Stop advertising and use it to fix your networks!

We know the truth, stop trying to convince us that your networks rule!

How about actual service delivery problems? Are there any problems with actually delivering a serive, Neotel?

Rule #1 in South African business (& politics for that matter)

If they deny it now it means there's a high probability that it is true & they'll have to admit to it in a few weeks time.

True, lets call it the Joost Rule. :p

for my purposes, they have not given any reason to move over to them- I am receiving far more value for money with telkom

After seeing all the bad reports and tears in the forums I don't know if I will choose Neotel in the short or medium term. I don't need drama. I want my Internet fast and reliable. If I have to pay extra to get that from Vodacom or Telkom then with tears in my eyes I will. I don't feel like guessing my data usage or getting stuck with an arb device that can't be used anywhere if I do cancel my Neotel contract. And then there is the lack of coverage...

It would not surprise me if there are in financial difficulty...

THANK YOU to everyone who no longer uses Neotel!!
I recently upgraded from Neotel Lite (the only option available back when I joined Neotel) to Neotel Prime, what a difference! I now enjoy speedy, reliable and consistent Internet connections with no dropping of connectivity either! After close to 2 months of Prime usage, the service remains rock solid - maybe the "network overload" of the past is now history ... maybe after so many people stopped using Neotel. Please do not return, please do not clutter up the Neotel network again!!

Lack of coverage? A few weeks ago a travelling assistant monitored Neotel coverage all the way from south of Johannesburg, travelling North on the N1, the Neotel supplied device in one hand, a cellphone monitoring MTN coverage in the other hand. This was done all the way to the eastern outskirts of Pretoria's eastern suburbs. Signals from both providers dropped, or dipped, in the same general geographical areas with Neotel actually maintaining the strongest and most consistent signal coverage en-route - admittedly no Neotel nor MTN calls were made during this process, only the indicated signal strength was observed.
This may not be a very scientifically test, but provided actual "on-the-ground" experience.

Sure, there are vast areas of South Africa not yet enjoying Neotel coverage - it also took the cellular providers time to achieve present coverage levels.

Data usage meter? Using Prime one merely needs to select Settings, Advanced Settings and then Log - the details are all there. Separate sent and received usage details (complete with totals) are provided for each connection period.

To put some minds at ease:
NO, I do not work for Neotel, do not receive any form of bribe, commission nor payment of any kind from Neotel to say something positive - I am an ordinary fare-paying consumer who finds the Neotel Prime facility very satisfactory indeed.

Tata Communications backing and we talk of financial difficulties? Is someone bored?

No doubt they have there problems, but they have enough money to fix any problems that may stand in their way :D

PS Try the NeoMax, i have had it in for a short period now and it offers huge value for money.

I cannot comment on Neotel as they have not rolled out any residential products in the Eastern Cape yet...

+1

I've been using Neoflex for nearly 9/10 months now without any hassles. I honestly don't understand how people can have such trouble with them. Meh anyways, I am happy.
