[ Johannesburg, 27 June 2008 ] - Neotel, which has traditionally been mum on its competitive figures, revealed ballpark subscriber numbers at a media briefing this week.

“April this year was the last count for consumer services, and we had in the region of 300 subscribers,” said Stefano Mattielo, the second national operator's head of enterprise business group and the Network Operations Centre.

They gonna have to drop their price further if they expect to make an impact in the consumer market. People won't just drop telkom unless Neotel has some serious new products in the future.

I reckon that the introduction of an ethernet CDMA device with no phone functionality (ie. just an internet device) might result in a more impressive uptake than a USB phone.

Then again, with real advertising who knows where things will go.

300 customers, what a joke, hopefully that'll force them to bring out more competitive packages.

Don't forget, this was in April.. so those 300 customers are the trial ppl they were using.

Yeah def not....

But it all depends on when that number was drawn from their system.

Won't get subscribers if you tell them 'I'll get back to you when we offer services in your area'... No-one believes that story.

Maybe they can buy out sentech mywireless it should double their subscriber numbers!

What a laugh must be because nobody has Neotel in their area, and to launch a trail service at that price.. Come on they should of had contracts for R300 :)
then people would move over to their services.

Guys, jeez i know we all want neotel to crush telkom and make it bleed so badly that it dies a horrible horrible death but give them a chance - Its been three months!

Give these guys a chance to prove themselve. I rate by the end of the year, we will see a massive change/improvement. Vodacom/MTN/Cell C and even telkom did not have the whole country covered within three months did they?

Yip, Neotel are not going to get any subscribers when they don't phone people back when they say they will

3 months? I have been hearing about them for years. Maybe even longer if the whole SNO thing before was always Neotel before they had a name

I actually totally forgot about Neotel at one stage...then someone mentioned them again like last year and I was like wtf??! Oh!

What a way to cash in on your billions in debt Notel! :p

Maybe those ripping off the 600 should tell us if they are subscribers or not...
Oh I forgot... they don't live in a Neotel enabled area?

601 now, just signed my office up.... Telkom couldnt help us with ADSL till later this year...
