Well to be totally honest it has been fantastic. DL speeds have been running at around 100kb/s on everything. And stable as hell...

Keep it up I say :)

So am I one of the few happy Neotel customers? hehe
Have made one change from the normal setup.

I have the NeoDataFlex package and found the Neotel router hopeless with balancing loads when I am using more than 1 PC on the network. So my Neotel router is connected to me Linksy WRT54G which handles all the DNS and load management. That in itself really made things a lot better on my connection.
Oh and updating the Neotel router's firmware helped too.

Neotel support still sucks, worked all of this out from trial and error. But I am happy with it now. Never bother calling support because it doesn't really exist.

Remember to watch your bandwidth usage and bank account like a hawk. Neotel have a reputation for over-billing and/or reporting incorrect usage.

Hey,

We recently got neotel uncapped at the office. They came and set up a patch antenna so we can get good LOS to the greenside tower. I cannot fault Neotel at all. Speeds are 2mb down and 3mb up

I did this with about 10 users currently using the line so downspeed is a bit less then normal. Browsing is quick and seemless

I am quite pleased that you are getting those speeds (even though I am annoyed as hell with my speeds of 0.28 and 0.02) , because this shows that their hardware can work and that the problems most of us are experiencing can and should be rectified.

I do hope it lasts - your posts remind me of mybb user jeanres that for a while was harping about his speeds of between 1.3 and 3.2 - he has since moved to ADSL after his connection dropped so badly.

Yeah, we've only had this for about 2 weeks now and its been a dream. Just hope it continues :)

I use a Linksys AP as well because I found that some sites wouldn't load when using a mac. No reason they just wouldn't load. And considering I have two macs in the house that is a bad thing.

I have mostly decent speeds and a stable connection...

I must say that I've had no interruptions for weeks. However don't try to play 1 minute chess games online , you'll lose because of lag!!

My experience has been absolutely horrible. The line dies without fail every 23seconds during the day, and every 3min 30sec at night.

I'm going to cancel soon as I convince Telkom to lay a phone cable to my house. I cant believe I've spent so much time and money trying to get this thing to work.

Anyone want my signal amplifier?

how much for this signal amplifier and what does it do exactly? does it amplify the internal wireless or the signal to notel?

More important though, who are you talking to at Telkom about laying cable?

It amplifies the 800MHZ and 1900MHZ spectrum... so all CDMA signals. It sends signal stronger to the towers and cleans up the mess on the incoming signal (from the tower). I had a 35% signal quality increase with the amp. I'd probably sell for R400-500. I had to solder my own South African connectors for it, to make it work with the neotel phone.

Im placing a requisition with Telkom to see if they will dig me a hold ('scuse the quadripple pun, and spelling ofc :P)

How the hell is it that your upload speed is higher than your download speed. It should be the other way around.

howzit,

ya dude i have no idea :p

Another week and it still seems good. hasn't died yet or caused any inconsistencies. we've almost trippled the users up from last time (+-30) users now and still okay.

i dont think speedtest accurately relates the speed, cause browsing is freaking fast.
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to neotel (seems like im the only one hehe)

here are my results after 5pm when most people go home :
