Neotel explains network issues

Yes, Neotel were handing out pamphlets at the traffic lights in my area, and they don't even have coverage there! How doff!

If there was a significant increase in their customer base, why are they still too ashamed to give any figures?

We had signs on all our street polls, and we actually had coverage... and then all of a sudden our coverage disappeared into thin air...

Got coverage in my area but i aint signing no frikken 24 month contract. they can shove that right where a highly skilled medical team will take a long time to get it out

What cracks me up is......the coverage around Me( Durban) is only on the tops of the hills, the valleys all have zero or little coverage.....

But i suppose when they get more towers up it will get better, i'm just tired of waiting.

You guys give Neotel sh*t but I am impressed at how well they are doing things for a brand new company. Sure they cant have the whole country already covered but the amount of coverage in big cities is pretty impressive.

Also the fact that they LISTEN (Neotel rep) and that they sort out issues people point out to them.

Good news for consumers is that Neotel last week announced that it planned to double its network coverage during 2009

double = 11% of the country

LOL

@Luf

If Neotel listened they would have gotten rid of that contract carp ages ago. wtf do they want to lock people into a 2 year deal for?

They are not brand new. Sorry

mmm I am going to go for: protecting themselves. They need to make sure that people will stay (pay) for 24months so that that can secure capital.

Because the alternative means telling people they have to cough up R2000+ for the phone or router. How many people do you think will sign up then?

That should be provided as an option to the user. That is why some people are willing to pay R10,000 for an HTC instead of taking out a 24 month cellphone contract.

The router doesnt need to cost that much. There are cdma routers available at a MUCH lower cost. Ones that would have allowed ethernet access right from the start. Im sorry but forcing people to sign a 2 year contract so they can afford your pos router is not going to win you any friends.

If they had come in on a month to month basis with the option of buying the router or financing it over a period of time (6/12/24 months) and the option of using third party equipment as well they might have had a slightly higher number of users and also a better image.

I now have the Neoflex with a red light but it works.. kindof..

I would like to "rent" a device to give them a try out before committing to anything longer. Would be nice if they offerred such a solution.
