Neotel increases revenue, coverage, user base

Well, they certainly do really care to get more customers. A colleage of mine applied for Neotel over a month ago and was told that they will contact him within 7 days, but they have till this day not contacted him.

Here's from PERSONAL experience:
It only took SIX weeks for Neotel to respond to a request, made in my presence, by a Neotel employed person to a Neotel department - this despite the fact that the Neotel person promised maximum turn-around time of 48 hours.

Just read between lines in the various forum posts - it is pretty clear all is not so well at Neotel.

Less than two years after launching its enterprise based telecommunication services, Neotel has crossed R2.2 billion in terms of consolidated annualised revenue for the operating year...

Nice! So what does this mean in profitability? I wonder whether they are heading toward covering costs?

I would imagine their setting up and acquisition costs are still quite high.

They may be missing out on the odd user but these are things I am sure they'll be working hard on to improve.

Our DSL link at work is very unreliable. Started on 4 megs now down to 2 megs which we can live with but every morning between 7:30 and 10am it resyncs up to 8 times. Telkom has no idea why.

I had the same issue, the reasons are normally as follows:
1. You're too far from the exchange, hence the fact you can't get 4mb, unfortunately, there's nothing Telkom is prepared to do about this, despite the fact they can install repeaters, their plan is to roll out 3g.
2. The quality of the copper is crap, they can replace it, you just have to complain enough.

sorry still can't see any coverage.... FAIL

My friend called Neotel about 2 days aggo to inquire about service since he moved into a new place. They tune him he can't get service cause he has not been staying at the new place long enough o.O (there is coverage there) .. so he went to telkom and they will come install his new 4Mb line on Monday.

Huh...? Fail...?

Did you even read the article? Neotel currently has over 30 000 subscribers.

a whopping 30000, lets just look at the figures properly, they launched on the 31 August in 2006 which means they have now been operating for 3 years, this equates to 10000 subscribers a year.

At this rate, for them to reach half (them taking half the market) the level where telkom is now (4.5 million) it will take another 225 years. Now there must be a way to have a more aggresive roll out plan... or have I completely over-rated the possibilities of human ingenuity.
