too many queries for the same name from different ip addresses also trigger the datamining checks - something to do with botnets.....

Btech, I am sure they will offer good service, BUT remember most places overseas the offer a Uncapped service, but if you use lets say over 40GB they will not be very happy. I would say a 20GB - 40GB cap is reasonable at a low price. Then for like R100 you can get another 20GB? Business users can pay more for a total uncapped service I guess. Who knows.

3GB is total rubbish, we know that. Local bandwidth should be uncapped always. I believe in having a Uncapped solution, but one cannot expect to be unreasonable when it comes to using the service.

Bandwidth usage needs to be in allowance with your line speed. If you have a 4Mbit like for example, 60GB seems a fair SOFT cap type thing. Soft as in how Sentech had it, not slow down or watever, just a e-mail or warning or something.

The wholesale services currently offered through Neotel's Global IP POP include wholesale Internet (IP Transit) and international carrier-grade voice (via TDM or IP interconnection) to and from 195 countries across 5 continents. At this stage, the services can be accessed by operators or service providers through leased line connections to the new POP located in Johannesburg, one of 68 POPs on the global network. The Johannesburg POP is currently connected via the SAT-3 submarine optical fibre cable to Sisembra, Portugal, from where it then connects to the Global International Network of VSNL-International.

Looks like it's going through SAT-3. Seems like they were granted access, and Telkom no longer have exclusive rights to it seeing that VSNL is also a shareholder in the cable?

how then will NOTel be offering wholesale international bandwidth [circuits] to ISPs as of today? - if not via SAT-3 then how? satellite? Poisonous Ivyness solitaire network cable?

I thought VSNL was already a significant stakeholder in SAT-3. Am I wrong?

The companies have shares in SAT-3 but Telkom has exclusive landing rights in SA (sneaky sneaky) until April 2007. Which, by total coincidence I'm sure, is when Neotel will start offering consumer services.

Strange, etv news had the Neotel launch as one of it's headlines - sabc news said nothing about Neotel, only sabc/sentech application at icasa

Hate to say this, but I find it hard to believe that the people who authorised this site are going to be competitive in a multibillion rand industry.

Freshy, interesting point. BurNinG could possibly be a good example. Think about it - before the Neotel site is up, he comments on the poor quality of the old SNO website (which is pretty much up to ****) with the knowlege of what the new site looks like. So we are expecting a weak network operator, but then sudenly this knight is shining orange armour comes to rescue us and prove people like claytonza wrong.....(im not from Neotel...OR AM I?? )

Im as pleased as punch about being proved wrong about the website as for once it seems like the company cares and have made an effort. The new site is very far from the old. Lets hope the rest of the services go the same way. People from Neotel did you receive my letter yesterday? Are you out there ???
