If MyBB is seen to be anti telecom companies, maybe they won't get inside info and some scoops.
So while Im not saying that MyBB should start kissing a*se, they shouldn't follow what some people are saying on here and ban stories from certain companies. If they don't want to point out where said companies have failed, perhaps someone can post it on their site, etc. as in the good idea that km2 suggested. Nice to keep a tally and not MyBB put on the spot. Then again maybe it won't work.
I think it should be possible to do a page that just states what was promised and time lines. It doesn't have to get too snarky with companies that don't deliver, maybe someone from MyBB can even contact them when the date elapses to get their side of the story. e.g. say Vodacom promised 7.2 HSDPA at some point, but that comes and goes, they can give their mitigating factors (delayed due to backhaul issues from Telkom)
Companies should even look at it as an opportunity to look good (rather than just being an opportunity to fail). If you're known as a company that can consistently delivers on your promises, it's better for your brand than any number of fluff pieces published. Take Seacom, just by them doing what they say they're going to do at the right time there's a lot of positive sentiment towards them. We should be encouraging all companies to aim to that level, and as a consumer advocacy site MyBB is in an excellent position to do it. It helps both the consumer and the telecoms companies.
Fundamentally it should be about increasing communication. It's like that recent story about Neotel delaying delivery of modems. What really cheesed people off was not knowing how long it would take, partly thanks to this South African attitude of just making up delivery estimates. And that reporter got angry for a wait of a couple of weeks, but we've got the same situation for new services that turn into multi-year delays. That needs to change. Like that article shows, holding companies accountable is the first step to doing this.
